Brando's 7-in-1 USB charging cable is a handheld owner's dream come true
It's truly heartbreaking that this gem wasn't available for purchase back when you desperately needed a low-cost gift for that special gamer in your life, but considering how lame the chocolate box you got him / her was, there's still reason to snap this up and slap a belated label on it. Brando's ingenious 7-in-1 USB Charging Cable provides power for PSP, DS, DS Lite, DSi and Game Boy Advance handhelds, and all that is required is a powered USB port and $7. Oh, and the bravery to allow a cable made by Brando (or some random backwoods company in China that Brando is in cahoots with) charge hundreds of dollars worth of your gadgetry.

Sokkratez @ Jan 4th 2009 8:06AM
This would be an instant buy if they were only called Brawndo.
Jacob @ Jan 4th 2009 12:16PM
Brawndo: It's got electrolytes!!
Rocketboy @ Jan 4th 2009 12:48PM
U liek mooviez 2?
sinjinn @ Jan 4th 2009 8:09AM
this might be useful if i worked in a games store, otherwise why would i have a ds , a ds lite and a dsi?
Samboini @ Jan 4th 2009 9:11AM
Some octopuses like playing on more than one console at a time.
Aaron @ Jan 4th 2009 8:14AM
I'm pretty sure that can't be good for your USB Solts...
Don't you need a powered hub to avoid damaging your devices?
lpppppl @ Jan 4th 2009 8:15AM
i dunno... it's been available in hong kong for at least 4 months.
Marcus @ Jan 4th 2009 8:16AM
Is it just me or are there only five branches from that USB cable?
Marcus @ Jan 4th 2009 8:17AM
Edit: *four.
Rohit Kapur @ Jan 4th 2009 8:19AM
You are correct; however, when they say "7-in-1", they mean that it can charge seven different objects. They're counting each of the PSP variants as separate, and likewise for the DS. Total them up and they count seven. :)
Dan Fruzzetti @ Jan 4th 2009 5:13PM
Though it's already been said, I need to rant momentarily about those "35-in-1 flash card readers." I mean seriously; you're counting the one slot that (e.g.) physically accommodates Memory Stick-sized items like ten times for each different variant of the Memory Stick, even if the different variants have the same physical interconnect...
J Harris @ Jan 4th 2009 8:30AM
PSPs can't be charged through a USB cable... atleast the last one i had which claimed to didn't. You had to like turn it on without the battery pack, and just after you see the green light, you have to insert in the battery pack, otherwise it won't turn on or charge.
bartoron @ Jan 4th 2009 8:35AM
The PSP end of the plug isn't USB. It's a normal PSP 5v plug.
Lloytron @ Jan 4th 2009 8:43AM
They can't? Thats news to me! I must have imagined playing on my PSP for all those hours after charging it from my PC.
Sounds like there is something very wrong with your PSP BTW.
B3astofthe3ast @ Jan 4th 2009 9:16AM
I believe only the 2000's and up can charge via USB.
Game_playa @ Jan 4th 2009 9:34AM
You must have the "fat" PSP. I have that one too, but my friend has a slim one, which charges with USB. So don't get upset
Edward L @ Jan 4th 2009 8:37AM
If it had ipod as well....it would be perfect!
James @ Jan 4th 2009 8:50AM
In deed there is, just google "5 in 1 USB Cable" and you will find those aren't new at all.
I have one of those cable for almost a year now, and it has been working great with my ipod AC adapter.
bill cant fart @ Jan 4th 2009 8:41AM
This isn't my dream come true...

~OFF TOPIC
Am I the only one who notices that the number of "Highest Ranked" dropped exponentially recently??
bill cant fart @ Jan 4th 2009 9:35AM
Most to all of the Highest Ranked comments have been relegated to High Ranked or Neutral. They probably raised the amount of up ranks it takes to get High ranked.
Inane_Asylum @ Jan 4th 2009 10:46AM
I thought it was just my computer, but there must be something wrong with the comment system. If you click the time/date stamp under the commentor's name, you'll see their correct rating. This is even affecting the older posts. Ones that were Highest Ranked are now Higher or Neutral until you click the timestamp...
Phoenix @ Jan 4th 2009 11:02AM
yeah... it's weird that. I tend to go into the comment branch to send links, and notice that I've actually been highest ranked...
Jake @ Jan 4th 2009 12:27PM
Personally, I have never understood how there could be more than one Highest Ranked. Perhaps those PhDs running engadget don't understand the concept of -est.
-jp
Maxwell @ Jan 4th 2009 5:18PM
Highest, as in, "This is the highest a post can be ranked." I'm guessing, anyway.
And it's so handy! I used to just scroll to the blue boxes to read only the good comments.
Patriks7 @ Jan 4th 2009 8:52AM
So first people have to look for the "any key", now for the "any USB slot"? :\
Patriks7 @ Jan 4th 2009 9:57AM
"USB solt" in fact..
BradS @ Jan 5th 2009 8:48AM
The USB Solt is under the Any key, just lift it up.
Craig @ Jan 4th 2009 8:55AM
Really, when you say 'OFF TOPIC' we all know its so not relevant.
Craig @ Jan 4th 2009 8:56AM
D'oh to me for not putting it in reply to someone elses comment.
EMaster @ Jan 4th 2009 9:05AM
Pfffffffffffffffffft I've had one of these for a while. They're made in HK and can be CHEAPLY bought off ebay.
Consequence_9 @ Jan 4th 2009 9:26AM
hmm, gotta get me one of these in preparation for the Pandora
TapTap @ Jan 4th 2009 9:27AM
Too bad the GBA Micro is always forgotten.
Patriks7 @ Jan 4th 2009 10:28AM
Wow, people still use those?!
Phoenix @ Jan 4th 2009 11:02AM
Wow, people EVER used those?
gar @ Jan 4th 2009 11:04AM
It's a shame that everyone just cant agreee on a single interface. Nokia is the closest I've ever seen to managing this.
HyperHacker @ Jan 4th 2009 11:34AM
Very much this. I have two "universal" AC adaptors and several gadgets that neither of them fit. Everything has its own plug. Someday aliens will invade, and we'll all be screwed because nobody can find the correct plug to power the death lasers.
Patrick Flynn @ Jan 4th 2009 5:31PM
Most of my devices use USB mini (T-Mobile G1, BT Headset, mp3 player)...so I try to stick with devices with those plugs...
by the way, can we trust the company that brought us the dangerous looking 16-port 2-computer usb hub?
http://usb.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00560&dept_id=015&cat_id=039
Looks kinda dangerous to me....
BigTeebo @ Jan 4th 2009 11:28AM
It's what USB ports crave.
gonintendo @ Jan 4th 2009 11:52AM
Correction: It's what usb solts crave.
cloud858rk @ Jan 4th 2009 5:04PM
USB slots, perhaps?
Jonathan-DBOSS @ Jan 4th 2009 6:01PM
No, I'm pretty sure it's "solts"
http://www.donorwallsanddisplays.com/gallery/032606/Solt-Library.jpg
BradS @ Jan 5th 2009 8:50AM
Where do you put the USB cable in that guy?
Daniel Pachinger @ Jan 4th 2009 2:46PM
solts.
jeff @ Jan 4th 2009 8:41PM
Hmm... an intriging title for a really boring cable. I was expecting a cable that could charge iPods, cell phones as well as game devices. But no.
dee @ Jan 5th 2009 1:22AM
Why do plants crave it?
