Don't forget kids, Apple (and our main man
Phil Schiller) will be doing its final Macworld thing live and direct come Tuesday morning, and as usual, we'll be there doing what we do: liveblogging the hell out of it. Set your alarms, wake the neighbors, and settle in for the mind-blowingest keynote you done ever seen. Here's where you need to check in on
Tuesday, January 6th:
Live from the Macworld 2009 keynoteAt these times:
07:00AM - Hawaii
09:00AM - Pacific
10:00AM - Mountain
11:00AM - Central
12:00PM - Eastern
05:00PM - London
06:00PM - Paris
02:00AM - Tokyo (January 7th)
I really appreciate the live blogging at this site when it happens. When I'm at work I'm behind a proxy so I can't get the live video so being able to read up on everything while it's happening is great for me...
There is live video? where? I didn't see any last time.
I think Leo Laporte broadcasts it and commentates. He did last time.
yeah...this is good I agree
I wonder which will be more exciting...MacWorld or CES...any guesses???
I love my mapple :)
try avoiderproxy.com and you'll be able to enjoy all it's goodness.
yo dawg
if you need something like a proxy
just get a flash drive and google ultrasurf 9.2
and use that yo
@ OP
I totally agree. Their live blogging is so much better than Joystiq's...they actually report what's going on and provide great details. I just received my brand new iTouch however...32G. I hope they don't announce some new version of the Touch that I really want.
Anyways should be a good show. The apple haters will come out of the woodworks of course but that's to be expected.
Keep up the good work Engadget. We may not be as vocal as all the rabid anti apple folk but know that there are lots of people who support the site and love your posts!
Thanks for including Alaska in that list of times guys. If you're going to mention the 50th state you could at least mention the 49th, which is badass enough to have it's own time zone as well.
sarcasm wouldn't want to miss this /sarcasm
Are you being sarcastic?
Why no of course not.
Are you being sarcastic?
*I'll gtfo now*
Are you being ironic?
don't bring irony into it, you'll opening up a whole new can of worms, especially as most people don't know what it is, including Miss Morrisette.
Whew, I'm glad sarcasm wouldn't want to miss this, it'd suck without it...
You really need to learn to code better.
Wouldn't miss this for the world - I've got a tenner riding on an iMac refresh, more specifically of new GPUs. :P
What's more important:
New product?
or
Does Phil wear a black turtleneck?
The world is watching.
A new product sounds good.
But a black turtleneck? thats just great :)
Or perhaps is wearing a turtle on his neck?
Maybe they release a black turtleneck product to celebrate the final keynote
Did we really need a post informing that Engadget would be there? Of course you will be buy, of course you will be. And when something barely updated is unveiled, it'll be more blinking, beeping Apple hardon from you guys. We all dig Apple. But keep it on the unbiased tip guy, seriously.
Low rank the truth guys? Really? Awesome.
If you don't like this, go to another blog.
Wow buddy, thanks for the advice! I really had zero idea WHAT I was going to do if someone hadn't gudied me!
I agree with you Level 5. I think I'm the only one though.... >_>
LOW RANK THE TRUTH?!
LOW RANK THE DOUCHE?!
BURN THE WITCH!
Thanks for being there live but I can't really see anything particularly interesting coming out of MacWorld, as it's more then likely going to be mostly refreshes of current product lines. The most interesting thing that may/may not be seen is the iPhone Nano and personally I think it's just XSKN pulling the trigger a little too quickly after some speculation, they may have a good record but when that record consists of the iPhone 3G - not an all too different setup from the original iPhone it's not hard to manufacture silicon skins that will fit regardless of a few changes in size.
If that were the case (pun intended), then why didn't they just release one skin? They released a 3G specific skin because the old one didn't fit.
first macworld where im not excited. I have officially moved o from my fanboyism. If they announce a cheap netbook id probably be a bit happy, but id only buy one after i built my pc.
Good thing you guys will be there live. It wouldn't be much of a post if you were all there dead...
ICWYDT!
YCISFIALOL
OMGROFLWTFLOLGTFOBBQ
Why even bother commenting?
Because it's the not-so-rare opportunity to waste ones time and open ones self to being flamed and low-ranked. Without anymore delay, my contribution.
SUCK IT MAC BITCHES!
Now, low rank ma' ass =D
Can't wait!!!
LOL to that picture... that was funny!
I know right? DEATH TO APPLE KEYNONTES!!! BAWAHAHAHHAA
needless words. all i took away from this was a mental image that Engadget stole Sputnik. and now they'll always be watching over me; floating around, just beepin.
Engadget wont just be there they'll be up Apple's a-whole while its going on. I've noticed that more than a few sites act like this during the Apple events tho, so I can't just blame Engadget for this kinda behavior...altho its annoying for the next few days or so
Look at the top 10 engadget posts of the year and you'll see why Apple get so much coverage. PEOPLE WANT IT.
I think you might want to read some of those topics. It's not all fan love.
People love it, people hate it, people care about it. The result is hits and that's good for business. Besides, apple does have a habit of coming up with some very unique ideas/stuff. I may not want to buy into the locked-down Mac model, but I can see how a lot of their ideas will spark improved technologies all around...and how others just seem bag-of-hurt dumb.
Ha! Engadget on sputnik...I always suspected you commie bastards.
I keed i keed.
Cant wait, im over the rumors
Macworld is more exciting than Christmas
Thanks for the warning. I'll see you guys on Wednesday when regular news coverage returns.
The post-match bitching from both sides will last until Thursday at least...
John P: Thanks for taking the time to read the article and then post in a thread that you claim you're not interested in. Way to prove how much you don't care. Just remember, every post in an Apple-related thread counts towards its popularity.
Couldn't agree more. I'm not looking at this site 'till Wednesday now.
Well we know which technology conference is getting the preferential treatment...
thanks to you reading and commenting in a macworld post instead of a CES post.
Well, I'll be waiting. Refreshing Engadget.com every five seconds or so!
I'm more interested to see if there will be a new product, but I know I shouldn't count on it. It will be interesting nonetheless.
Sorry Gaize but I gotta roll with gdgt for this one.
Does it really matter if you're there, updating a blog 'live'? Couldn't you just wait 15mins to write a nice, concise post? I'm sure it wouldn't need to be longer than 2 or 3 bullet points.
Us readers don't want speed, as we don't sit on our computers all day long (ok,...some of us might). I want to read the 'latest' news (as in, the past month's in well written blog posts. If I'd wanted useless fanboyism towards a company which in the whole pushes out computers which don't reach a mass market because of either cost of functionality (and yes, I'm writing this on a macbook), I'd of stuck reading Gizmodo.
Interesting the way most of the commenter's feel the same way too.... take a bleedin' hint.
Ummm... There's always more concise posts on each item posted in addition to the live blog.
Personally i'll relish any distraction what-so-ever (i'm a student studying for exams), so minute by minute is fine by me, if however you want a nice concise overview, wait till its finished and then read the roundup.
They usually do a wrap-up, if that's what you want...
Careful.
Criticism of Engadget over-coverage of Apple-related news is seen by the staff as a direct affront to them, so your computer may be remotely detonated for your post.
Ha! Do you guys see what they did with that picture? You see... it's like the world is in the shape of an "Apple" (like the company) and the slightly shrouded Moon is the stem! Do you all see that?? Isn't that the bestest ever?!?!
Man. Hilarious!
I'll be skipping the "Apple-a-thon" coverage too.
Yet you still waded your way through the crappy comment system to post that.
Good job.
You could have just voted with your feet and just not even clicked on this post, let alone comment, because Engadget can't tell the difference between you or some other random guy who is actually interested in this.
I remember reading something about a way to block any apple articles, if you ask nicely instead of throwing a hissy fit, maybe someone will let you know how to do it.
Wow this is getting annoying. Everything is turning into either an Apple hatefest or a Microsoft bash war. Either way Engadget turns, they get criticized more for whatever they're writing about.
Well, seeing as you were the first to post on this comment.. yeah. I think a few days without Engadget would do you good.
i think apple have no new iphone..... who need´s new macbooks.... we want netbooks now :)
Dude! I can't wait until I load up on the newest apple crap...
I'll descend on the closest Starbucks and be the coolest/poorest pantywaist in the joint.
Me, I like the Apple coverage. I'm sorry guys, but they are damn good gadgets... and this blog is about gadgets.... I mean, seriously. They even cover digiframes... not because they love em, but because they gotta!
I'm with you. I really don't understand why people bother commenting on these stories to say they're leaving.
I find this phenomenon interesting. You say that you find Apple stories annoying, yet you take the time to actually open the article and post a comment about how you are going to be blocking that content.
There must be some sort of medical condition that forces people to read stuff they aren't interested in, and tell everyone how much they hate it.
no Boom?
"Set your alarms, wake the neighbors, and settle in for the mind-blowingest keynote you done ever seen."
Rough translation = More ad click revenue than a M$ Vs M@c flame war !
Not when I have addblock enabled!
No new Iphone and the stock exchange will falling deep.....
Highly, highly, unlikely, the stock market will fall if an expected announcement (that they care about) doesn't materialise. Unless Apple announce they are pulling out of the hardware business or selling iPhones for $20 a pop then i cannot see a dip, i'm not saying that it's going to go through the ceiling either.
cue stock plummet this time tomorrow...
Not true... Apple stocks took a dive the last time they rolled out less then exciting new products, such as the iFi and the Nano phatty. With this being the last hurrah, and the tech market being in a downturn, investors are going to be watching to see if Apple roars or just bores tomorrow. Seeing how we are now only 4 hours away yet the apple store is still up, it's not looking good for any immediate new product roll outs however.
Maybe they'll allow live streaming video for their last keynote.
You know, like EVERY OTHER PRESS CONFERENCE IN THE FUCKING WORLD.
/rant
Ahh, I'm not so sure on that.
The thing is you see... they take two weeks to add little animations with signs saying who is who and stuff
"Steve Jobs
Apple's CEO"
And so on.
Give them a break. THEY NEED TWO WEEKS FOR THAT. It's complex stuff.
Looked what happened when I search apple rss
http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/20/tired-of-iphone-and-or-apple-news-on-engadget/
Maybe Engadget needs to repost this so all the whiners can be quiet for once.
in 2010: First MacWorld without Apple, and we'll be there.
Actually, I heard McDonald's was eager to take it over and rename it McWorld. They plan on rolling all of their big new burgers every year.
Don't you mean nano new burgers?
people have a problem with endgadget posting apple related problems?
is there something psycologically wrong with you people?
Ok... let's post about stuff that is complete garbage and crap then. Bring on the ZUNE news! yay
that was about as idiotic as the ones you just lambasted, good job...
Oh come on. I'm no apple fanboy but anyone who thinks Macworld isn't worth covering is deluded.
Shite like "Let's Rock" no, Macworld yes.
ohh my gosh this is breaking news.
I mean I was not aware that engadget was going to attend macworld this year THEY NEVER DO.
I can finally read countless apple stories bak to back on my favorite blog?
You guys just keep getting better and better every year.
Now with you guys covering apple-world domination is not far.
Wha-hay! Guess what? You're not the only reader in this blog. You do know of course that there are these "new reader" things right?
Yeah. So maybe they haven't got a clue for when the keynote is on but would like to know, in addition to the link for when the keynote coverage. That's what this post is for.
ohhh...I hope they have a Newton refresh. And I heard that the //gs was getting a refresh to the i//gs air pro mini. Exciting times people!
A new Mac-Mini announcement will keep me refreshing.
The Mac Mini is the best hacker product out there. Now that we have 500GB 2.5" drives, it's only going to get better.
What a great time to be alive, if only for the stupid Mac Mini!
engadget(along with bgr and others) did the same thing for the g1 event. They covered it like crazy, and so what! People are so biased about engadget being biased.
OF COURSE engadget will be there. You guys get a boner for anything steve jobs related. So much so as him sneezing couple of times will make headlines.
What you going to do now? Threaten to disable everyones "privelege" of commenting? Try it.. that'll be the end of engadget.
Steve 'Booner' Jobs in the house!
Pardon my bad engrish. I wanted to comment with "Steve 'Boner' Jobs". There goes my first engadget joke...
I think Booner made me laugh more... I diddn't get it, but that was the funny part.
Oh My God! Someone ate europe and the poles are gone! Where the heck am I?
Your Mom's Basement?
All of the other residents of your mom's basement will be heartbroken, no doubt.
Couldn't...Care...Less
