Oh hells yes. We've
arrived at CES in full nerd style. We sent
Moms to Atlantic City so us kids could hijack the trailer all the way to Vegas baby, Las Vegas. And in true Kojak style we parked right in front of the central hall just outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. What better base to provide the best CES 2009 coverage on the Net? Check our first pass on the show floor after the break. With roots now planted and enough gadgets to keep us busy 7 by 24... we may never go home.
Yes, we can imagine Sony's new
Vaio P-Series ultra-portable.
Stealth mode: on.
Unannounced Samsung BD-P4600 Blu-ray player under wraps and looking sleek.
Samsung's latest Direct Methane Fuel Cell (DMFC) power modules looking close to production ready (we wish).
A little bit closer.
And again.
An early
DMFC prototype first spotted back in 2007.
Powermat
promises to have its wireless charging mat on shelves for 2009. We'll see.
Another variation of the 5 charging mats they'll be showing off. Hello induction charged BlackBerry Storm.
The
Sharper Image brand is here riding on Apple's coattails. Feels kind of icky.

Joshua Topolsky @ Jan 5th 2009 7:30PM
Yes. It is.
Kris120890 @ Jan 5th 2009 7:31PM
If someone asks if you want a $1000 do you say no.
Benson @ Jan 5th 2009 7:36PM
Ridiculously "hudge"? I'm sure there's a clever pudn in there somewhere...
Patriks7 @ Jan 5th 2009 7:39PM
Dude! They are in LAS VEGAS!
They need it for all the girls and stuff!
noyp @ Jan 5th 2009 7:42PM
Uh, ya. Sure, girls. We can go with that. I keed!
bill cant fart @ Jan 5th 2009 7:50PM
Please don't feed the hudge!!

Sor @ Jan 5th 2009 10:16PM
@Ziegler
Oh crap... btw i have to say thank you mate for the info, here in the EU we don't know what's going on over there, but now at least i will have a better understanding if i see a lubricant post here is Engadget around that days ;)
I wont blame though if do some kind of "mistake" like that. An Expo with the most famous p0rnstars is something that every man would like to cover or uncover :P As my brother always says "real is way better than digital" :) Now that i think of it, is almost ironic and funny that one expo is fully digital and from what i read they focus this year on 3D and the other expo is for porn. hahaha geeks dream come true :P
Btw i checked the AVN expo schedule and it would very interesting to go and see one of the contests (from scientific point of view ofc)!! They also have presentations and keynotes, now that would be a lot of fun!!
b3nz0n8 @ Jan 6th 2009 5:14AM
That's what she said...
Kai @ Jan 6th 2009 7:00AM
It is real, right?
(Engadget reports on fakes quite often) =D
The trailer is huge! How many staff/ how much equipment did you all bring?
Kris120890 @ Jan 5th 2009 7:29PM
I can't wait. I Hope we're not dissapointed and get to see brand new shiny things.
electron @ Jan 5th 2009 9:15PM
one of the upsides/downsides of this time of year is that there is a new engadget post every 3.2056723 seconds ;) or at least, so it seems..... :D
Boards of Canada @ Jan 5th 2009 9:28PM
I hate to come see engadget and see there is no new post at all... cant complain!
thepenguin @ Jan 5th 2009 7:29PM
WOW! you guys are so lucky, I wish I could be there but I live in LA :( Wish you guys luck! :)
gaddelyz @ Jan 6th 2009 6:13AM
Hey pal....don't feel bad...I LIVE IN FREAKING LAS VEGAS AND I COULD'T GET IN!!!!
and you know what...it's the THIRD year I live here already!!!
*weeping*....i'm just gonna drive pass LV Convention center everyday staring at that bug Sony banner...LOL....>
gaddelyz @ Jan 6th 2009 6:16AM
I meant *big* referring to the banner...don't flame me...lol
Michael @ Jan 6th 2009 10:18AM
@gaddelyz: It's easy, register early at cesweb.org. Say you work for some company that does something in consumer electronics. Show up with your ID and a business card (DIY off your printer) and you're in....it's not hard. I've been going for years.
gaddelyz @ Jan 6th 2009 5:08PM
Really? I can do that?
I know early registering is free and when i was asked to input company info I kinda freaked out...I wish I had shell out my guts and just go in...lol
Wouldn't they check for the company legit or not? Or can I just say I am self-employed as a private computer technician?
Kris S. @ Jan 5th 2009 7:29PM
Give us a tour of the mobile HQ.
Smoot @ Jan 5th 2009 7:37PM
Yes please!
Jake Tobak @ Jan 5th 2009 7:33PM
Yah, that trailer is pretty bad ass. We need a tour.
dandaman @ Jan 5th 2009 7:37PM
Hey, I have an original idea - a tour inside the trailer!
oh wait...
Casper42 @ Jan 5th 2009 7:39PM
Add my vote to the list.
Give us a tour!
fred @ Jan 5th 2009 8:01PM
I'm expecting a jacuzzi and a stripper pole to be in there somewhere.
Freakin Ijit @ Jan 5th 2009 8:07PM
I just want to know which Photoshop-like app was used to "paint" on the logo.
Michael Scrip @ Jan 5th 2009 8:18PM
> "I'm expecting a jacuzzi and a stripper pole to be in there somewhere."
Is this the old Girls Gone Wild bus? :)
Nik @ Jan 5th 2009 9:21PM
Come on guys, show us what it looks like inside that thing!
farting on your face @ Jan 6th 2009 4:42AM
There's not much to it really, the w/c has a triangular shower that's too small to use, the living room area has a couple of bolted down lazyboy recliners that are bolted down to the floor, there's a television that's suspended from the ceiling, and of course the table in the kitchenette area has banquet seating that's too tight for you to fit your gut into. I mean, it's not any different from the double wide that any of you losers live in. That is, of course, aside from you dweebs still living in your mother's basement.
Sneakz @ Jan 5th 2009 7:30PM
Can we get an inside view of the trailer?
tfurdal @ Jan 5th 2009 7:36PM
Seconded
Ayman @ Jan 5th 2009 7:55PM
third
Praveen Premchandran @ Jan 5th 2009 8:23PM

DJ @ Jan 5th 2009 7:33PM
Woo Hoo, Fart power the alternative fuel of the future... Marvelous Methane!!!
DJ @ Jan 5th 2009 7:37PM
Something about the first pages of CES showing a Double wide trailer and Methane powered devices just screams REDNECK GEEK!! not sure if that's an oxymoron or not.... Heh
charliex @ Jan 5th 2009 7:33PM
I'm dubious as to what sort of entertainment they want touching me.
jasonm_h @ Jan 8th 2009 2:02AM
I'm dubious as to what sort of entertainment you want them to touch you with
Digihunter @ Jan 5th 2009 7:35PM
Wow!, can I visit your trailer? I will leaving to the Las Vegas tomorrow from Korea. It will be fun week! Yeah!
jake @ Jan 5th 2009 7:35PM
I cant imagine it has to be that big and what does the 1000 dollars have to do with it.
DJKissler™ @ Jan 5th 2009 7:35PM
What's sad is, i work at sprint's BWTS Center in Vegas, and can't even get a comped ticket to go to CES, AND WERE A SPONSOR!
...rawr..
Lloytron @ Jan 5th 2009 7:41PM
That's right, because every employee of a sponsor should have the automatic right to attend trade shows.
ProfessorKaos @ Jan 5th 2009 7:37PM
Is that trailer 2 separate trailers put together at location? Thats awfully long for a trailer. Hope theirs a nerd party goin on in there!
AJ in the East Bay @ Jan 5th 2009 7:37PM
I liked Engadget when they were good, before they sold out and went "official" with their "trailers."
Meh, half kidding, I'll still be glued to the blog ;-)
gordo1111 @ Jan 5th 2009 7:38PM
The Sharper Image is still alive?
Eric @ Jan 5th 2009 9:35PM
The brand is. Not the retail stores.
Mike @ Jan 5th 2009 7:40PM
Engadget, like Ron Burgundy, is the balls.
