JVC 5kg 32-inch LCD to be the lightest, greenest at CES?
While Samsung's latest may be slightly narrower, JVC swears its CES prototype will be the lightest 32-inch LCD out, weighing a mere 5kg its perfect for ceiling mounted installations. At 7mm thick they've managed to squeeze 1080p resolution and LED backlighting out of 50% of the materials and less mercury used to produce current designs. A hands on should settle the battle of the thin, expect iPhone comparison pics and contentious weigh ins usually reserved for heavyweight bouts this week in Las Vegas.

Think of all the trees you need to cut down to make the money to pay for this though, unless I'm guessing wrong about the price.
Money, in the US, Europe and mostly elsewhere is made of cotton.....so trees are safe!
Think of all the trees cut down to create room for the cotton fields to make the money to pay for this.
id love to have one but these will probably cost like $3000
Ah yes, the iphone comparisons..why we still use inches and cm's i will never know.
Yes, we should form a worldwide unit based on the iphone! Just imagine the glory! 6 iphones thick...70 Kiloiphones tall, as small as 4 nanoiphones......it's so ingenious that it must already be in Steve Jobs's new world order plan!
/sarcasm
Sorry for picking up on the one thing apple
But in that link the iPhone comparison, use a better angle or better focus or something. It just looks so blurry. Even though its a real camera hopefully
whats with all the Guiness World Records contenders for thinnest LCD products?
According to engadget i think the record at the moment is 2.3 iPhones thin.
it's beautiful the things i would do for something like this, and it's the perfect size
When they make a 65 or 72 inch version (which should in theory weigh 20kg or less) I'm buying it.
well i def pick this over the piece of shit samsung, even thou im not thrilled over this model of JVC, i like JVC thou.
and yes, iphone comparison test, thats what were all waiting for...fucking shit.
iPhone comparison? What the fuck?
If i was interested in this TV wouldnt i be looking for a comparison with...i dont know...another fucking LCD TV.
You know a site has sold out to Apple when it compares TVs to mobile phones.

maybe not
ok j/k

Does that sucker look like it's hanging upside down? What's up with the thick bezel at the top?
I love these graphic guys who show off products but ignore the ugly cables required for it to be useful. Imagine this hanging from your ceiling with a obtrusive power cord running towards the floor.
that is a hot tv (minus the stand) but I'm sure out the door it will cost some exorbitant amount of money and they don't say anything about specs (refresh rate, colors, ect.) but either way it is still gorgeous.
so where'd they hide all the electronics/speakers for this TV?? where do I plug in all my videogame systems?
I don't particularly like the design either, and I don't see a huge need to make LCD's even thinner, but I guess it's good for some cases if you want to install it flush or inside some flat surface, but to have it on a stand being super thin, what's the bloody point.
RAB: I think that "thick bezel at the top" probably a VESA mounting bracket.
