Apple unveils all-new 17-inch MacBook Pro
Apple just confirmed the totally expected yet eagerly anticipated unibody 17-inch MacBook Pro. They're calling it the world's thinnest and lightest 17-inch laptop. It features a 1900 x 1200 LED backlit display, with a 700:1 contrast ratio, wider color gamut and a glorious $50 matte option. Most of the specs are otherwise quite similar to the 15-inch MacBook Pro, but unfortunately Apple went with a MBA-style non-removable battery, claiming that the lack of removable mechanism allowed for more battery -- they're speccing it at 8 hours of lithium polymer juice on integrated graphics, 7 hours on discrete, and it's rated at 1000 recharges. There will also be an exchange program, like with the iPod. The base model hits at $2799, spec breakdown and more shots after the break.

Think about it. It appears that Apple is making the same mistakes our auto industry has made.
IT'S JUST ANOTHER ........."HIGH PRICED PIECE OF JUNK" THAT WON'T WORK AT LEAST
10-15% OF THE TIME. ONCE YOU BUY IN IT'S YOUR PROBLEM FROM THEN ON!
Does anyone know who the battery manufacturer is? I'd be interested to see their spec sheets...
I agree that the non removable battery isnt such a big issue but the new macbook isnt much better than the 15in except for the screen. Wheres the quad core?! Why not but a real graphics card in there instead of a "meh" 9600M GT? Why not put a 9800M GT in there? Where is my 500gb hard drive? they arent that expensive!
Um.... Why do you guys want a 17in notebook? I know its only an inch thin but its freaking huge! It doesnt ever have a quad core! So even with the top performing mac 17in your paying extra for a measly 190mhz advantage over the top 15in model and paying a ridiculous amount for an extra 4gb or ram and you cant swap batteries! It should be a hell of a lot less!
Why pay all that when you can get a nicely equipped 2.8ghz Macbook Pro 15in.... It doesnt make sense!
I'm a Mac Addict myself, but dammit, Man! $2700?!?!?!
Sheesh.
No wonder no one buys Macs!!!!
