Has your $2,500
XEL-1 display already started to show a case of the
dimming blues? If so, and if you can go without seeing Cookie Monster in his natural hue for a few more months, you may have another OLED replacement option after this summer. LG is indicating it will begin producing a 15-inch panel in June of this year. No word on whether it'll match the Sony's 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, but it
will offer a higher resolution of 1,366 x 768, and LG is pledging a 30,000 hour shelf life. We'll see about that.

I'm afraid this will make them in the "too expensive" section..

This things are probably worse than my boyfriend! I bet you hang a mirror in front of them and they would stare at themselves for hours and hours (30,000 in this case).

That is good news if it is attached to a sub 3lb laptop otherwise I'm not sure if it really is of any use to people who are used to 20-30" computer screens and 50-65" TV screens.

Isn't shelf life what you use when something is sitting in the box unused?

Well LG pretty much ensured these babies will not leave the shelves for at least 3 years...

imagine every wall in your house being wallpapered with this stuff in one, solid sheet. it makes me sad, because i know it will probably always be too expensive, one can dream though.
