Matias' Tune Blocker alleviates the need to ever push "cancel sync" again
If hitting that "Cancel Sync" button in iTunes is just too terrifying of a task, the Tune Blocker from Matias is here to save your day. For the low price $24.95, you get the three-foot cable which allows you to toggle between data syncing and charging only modes. For another five bucks, you can score another three-feet of mouseless anti-syncing bliss, or you could just take the economical high road and stick to the included cable that comes with your iPod or iPhone out-of-the-box and save your cash for a much more useful purchase later on.

this is clearly for people like shugg
Fred @ Jan 7th 2009 6:45PM
This is a good idea I think, it could have been better as an add-on to the existing cable.
Les @ Jan 7th 2009 6:46PM
Or you can just set your iPod to never auto sync.
Or if you don't use the Music Store switch to MediaMonkey :)
Paul @ Jan 7th 2009 6:54PM
Yeah, umm, seriously. Is this easier than turning off auto sync? Like mechanical switches instead of clicking a soft button? I don't get it.
Boards of Canada @ Jan 7th 2009 7:05PM
dude, itunes is not always working well... even if you click no sync, sometime its sync ipods anyway deleting all songs. Its happened to me 2 times, deleting all my friends collections (one of those time was really dramatic, I'll never forget). And all was well set in itunes. Itunes sometime is a bitch.
ssoltero @ Jan 7th 2009 7:30PM
Ya, how can this even make it to market? iTunes has a "Manual Sync" option that only syncs when you tell it too.
Well, I guess some sucker out there will be happy.
ProfessorDex @ Jan 7th 2009 7:31PM
I sync my iPhone and iPod with iTunes. Both of which are set to never auto-sync, both of which have never presented a problem.
Not sure who this is really targeted at except people with more money than brains.
Lars @ Jan 8th 2009 1:01PM
Well, obviously this is meant for people with more money than brains... we're talking about Apple products here.
Paul Chapel @ Jan 7th 2009 6:52PM
Darn, I need to get another iPod, preferably one with "Touch" functions, cause there just seems to be cool things coming out for iPods all the time. All the time, mommy.
Boards of Canada @ Jan 7th 2009 7:06PM
How much they pay you?
Mr. Harris @ Jan 7th 2009 7:04PM
I guess somebody has to make money off of the incredibly stupid...it may as well be these guys. Just set your iTunes up for manual synch instead of automatic - problem solved.
mikey @ Jan 7th 2009 7:19PM
The bad thing is, someone's going to buy this and think they've got the greatest iPod/iPhone accessory ever....
Nadool @ Jan 7th 2009 7:21PM
iTunes is such garbage to begin with. Just use Winamp! So much more freedom with your music and syncing options.
It really whips the Fanboy's ass!
Ondra Soukup @ Jan 7th 2009 7:39PM
How much have I saved then, by clicking one fucking checkbox ? $25 ? Oh, really ? This is the best job, ever!!!

The fact that this cable was even created is humorous.
That said, I do not use iTunes and I never will.
Jeffrey @ Jan 7th 2009 7:52PM
I hope it's Dash v2 instead. This current one is just too bulky for my taste.
Jeffrey @ Jan 7th 2009 7:55PM
I don't know how this happened. But just ignore this.
Jeffrey @ Jan 7th 2009 7:56PM
If you have automatic sync checked, all you have to do is just holding Command + Option key before you connect your iPhone/iPod. This will temporary disable iTunes syncing.
oliver hart @ Jan 7th 2009 8:32PM
I had 12,445 songs, 65 movies, tons of stuff torrented that wasn't saved, stuff that was Senuti'd with. All not back up on my iPod, I connected my iPod to a friends computer to watch something one day and after disabling sync, clicking stop sync and it saying it was stopped, it proceeded to delete my entire library.
This isn't worth the money, but if I'd had this that one time-for me-it would have paid off ten fold.
DjFIL @ Jan 7th 2009 9:17PM
Hmm... $25 or just turn off the auto-sync option in iTunes. Tough decision.
spyker @ Jan 7th 2009 9:40PM
Or you could just uncheck the "auto sync when connected" option in iTunes......
ecking01 @ Jan 7th 2009 11:50PM
What a useless product, ok idea but I'd burn my money before buying this.
Shunnabunich @ Jan 8th 2009 2:43AM
The fact that a company even wanted to make this accessory, let alone actually brought it to market, should be sending up HUMONGOUS red flags in Cupertino..."Oh hey, guys, maybe it's *not* a good thing that someone's selling a special cable solely to compensate for the fact that we've shoved crap into iTunes' codebase over the years to the point where it takes it half a minute to realize the user CLICKED A BUTTON."
Nick @ Jan 8th 2009 5:58AM
"...stick to the included cable that comes with your iPod or iPhone out-of-the-box..."
That's odd... my USB cable came with my iPod in-the-box, was yours taped to the outside or something?
Dan @ Jan 8th 2009 4:42PM
Ok, so you're going to charge me $25 for a switch that lifts the Data + and Data - lines of the USB cable..... thanks, I'll build one myself
