The 2009 VIZIO HDTV lineup
Budget minded customers waiting for VIZIO's 2008 LCD lineup can rest easy as all the details of new VL, VT, and EcoHD lines are official. All the lines feature either SRS TruSurround XT or HD and multiple HDMI inputs. But while the VL and VT series are all 1080p and feature VIZIO's version of 120hz technology called Smooth Motion II, the EcoHD series is the new eco-friendly version we've heard about which is up to 25 percent more energy efficient than Energy Star 3.0 requires. The VL line ranges from 32 to 47 inches, with retail prices between $599 and $1099. The VT however is only available in 42 and 47-inches, which are $899 and $1099. The EcoHD line however really spans the gamut ranging from 19-inch all the way up to 32-inches and from $249 to $449.

Vizio is taking over the world
mrsalty @ Jan 7th 2009 11:34AM
Wow, very nice pricing. I was really really wanting an AQUOUS but at these prices, i would be stupid not to bite.
Maneki Neko @ Jan 7th 2009 11:38AM
Damn, I was really hoping this would be the year that LED backlit LCDs became mainstream.
alexmueller @ Jan 7th 2009 5:06PM
Well they forgot to mention the VF551XVT which is a 55" LED backlit TV for 2K. That's a sweet deal.

That thing is hot!

Ugly stand, you better wall mount that baby in a nice cabinet to take care of its great looks (besides the stand).
mrsalty @ Jan 7th 2009 11:42AM
One of the 47" VIZIO modes is LED, just checked the specs. It's amazing how great companies can become when they are run privately and aren't being driven by public shareholders greed and stupidity. Vizio please don't ever go public!!!
Carney @ Jan 7th 2009 11:46AM
Do they actually offer extended warranties on them now, or are they still in a rush to dump them on consumers before the word gets out?
Tom @ Jan 7th 2009 11:50AM
Those are nice prices. If you're interested, Costco has the SV470XVT 47" 1080p 120Hz LCD for $999 right now. http://www.techdealdigger.com/deals/vizio-sv470xvt-999-at-costco/5990
That puts it at $100 cheaper than the new model.
aaron @ Jan 7th 2009 11:52AM
no plasma?
Backlin @ Jan 7th 2009 11:56AM
That frame is beautiful, and the prices are very aggressive.
dale @ Jan 7th 2009 12:14PM
why would we be waiting for the vizio 2008 lineup? isn't this 2009?
mcdizzle895 @ Jan 7th 2009 12:45PM
beat me to it...but I didn't see yours until after I posted mine. Mines funnier. :-P
Ike Skelton @ Jan 7th 2009 12:24PM
Did they scrap the 55" LCD that was supposed to come out this month? I was waiting to see it and I was going to decide between it and a larger DLP. If it doesn't come out soon though I'll get a DLP.
cookEgawd @ Jan 7th 2009 12:33PM
uh, those two read links go to the same place...
Matt @ Jan 7th 2009 12:42PM
Sweet, a 32" super energy-efficient just-over-720p LCD TV for only $450... that's the cheapest msrp of anything that size and resolution of anything I've seen so far...
mcdizzle895 @ Jan 7th 2009 12:43PM
"Budget minded customers waiting for VIZIO's 2008 LCD lineup can rest easy as all the details of new VL, VT, and EcoHD lines are official"
It seems that these customers, while frugal, are waiting for information that was out a year ago...if they're waiting on the 2008 LG lineup.

The founder has an interesting story to his life.

I'm sure sooner or later he will sell out to a major company and another low cost quality option will go away.
I hate getting my hopes up for the underdog and the underdog cashes out.
010111 @ Jan 7th 2009 1:00PM
those links are both the same.
any idea on release date? i was *just* about ready to buy a 32"-37" 1080p Vizio... might wait a bit if i can get 120Hz too for what looks to be about the same price.
kgforce @ Jan 7th 2009 1:52PM
I was about to pull the trigger on the $999 deal at Costco when I saw this announcement... I may just have to wait a little bit longer!
kgforce @ Jan 7th 2009 2:22PM

Bradley @ Jan 7th 2009 2:50PM
That bezel looks like root beer candy! Yum?
Rory @ Jan 7th 2009 3:53PM
I hope the Vizio logo doesn't light up birght white like the current ones do when the TV is on - that is really distracting. In fact, all LED's that are on when the TV is are annoying - why do I need a power LED for a screen - can't you just look at the screen an tell it's on? An LED when it is off is nice to let you know it is plugged in, but goes off when the TV comes on (like my Samsung does),makes much more sense (provided there is an indicator for no signal when the screen is black of course).
TheGeektoriousBIG @ Jan 7th 2009 4:19PM
I've been eyeballing VZ for a good while now. Of course videophiles smug up at what this company offers. But as long as it turns on and you got the proper lighting and distance, these TV's rock. Pulling the trigger on one of these this summer.
Hooterman @ Jan 7th 2009 5:06PM
The frame almost looks like wood. Retro console look. My grandma's TV is about to be 'in style'.
damn im so emo @ Jan 7th 2009 8:36PM

Kate @ Jan 12th 2009 7:48PM

John @ Feb 13th 2009 11:28AM
I'm glad to see more people are moving to Energy Star compliant, but I think I'm gonna wait for vizio's 55" LED. I think it comes out in June? For the prices they are quoting you just can't compare.
