Toshiba CES 2009 lineup includes Qosmio and Satellite updates, pico projector, accessories

As we've made plainly obvious, the Digital Products Division over at Toshiba is going to be hitting Vegas with a whole heap of new gear, just the thing for "dealing with a generation that is technically sophisticated," according to the PR hype. Among items to be bandied about: The new Qosmio X305-Q725 is a gamer-friendly, 17-inch diagonal widescreen notebook sporting NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTX graphics, an Intel Core 2 Quad processor and 64GB SSD storage (MSRP $2,699.99). New additions to the Toshiba Satellite line will also be in tow, rockin' widescreen TruBrite displays, support for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD4000 series GPU and the option of either Intel or AMD processors. Rounding out the set are the TDP-F10U pico projector, dynadock U Universal USB Docking Station, the X20 Gaming Mouse, and something called a "Gaming Backpack" (we'll let you guess what that one does).

Toshiba consistently makes the most brick-worthy laptops

Yet another overheating, system board failure Tooshitty Quasimotto piece of crap. Flip this puppy over and marvel at hundreds of screws waiting to come loose from a flimsy plastic enclosure.
Don't forget the frustrating ServiceNET extended warranty that will extend your heartache and torture. I've been through several of these puppies and they all suck.
Go with HP, DELL, SONY, Apple, ASUS, Voodoo, Samsung, -anyone and anything but this!
Dyranios @ Jan 7th 2009 3:16PM
heh take that price and put it against the similarly priced new 17" MBP and wonder...
Uncontrol @ Jan 7th 2009 3:23PM
while your point is valid, i weigh that against the fact that this may be the ugliest computer of all time
Game_playa @ Jan 7th 2009 3:23PM
I did what you said, now what?
Uncontrol @ Jan 7th 2009 3:28PM
are pc gamers really this tasteless or is this just a horrible case of demographic confusion on toshiba's part
i saw this in person the other day and it's literally revolting
i am actually hard-pressed to think of a modern laptop that looks worse than this
Oli D @ Jan 7th 2009 4:02PM
thinkbooks are hardly delicate and pretty
Uncontrol @ Jan 7th 2009 4:03PM
actually as a mac owner i find the thinkpad line to be pretty nice looking (aside from this new weird double screen thing). they're pretty attractive in their utilitarian minimalism.
gonintendo @ Jan 7th 2009 5:56PM
Exactly, TB's are like classic american muscle cars. This is like a 'pimped out' camry.
Mert @ Jan 7th 2009 3:43PM
I wonder if they have any customer groups they present these things to get their impression? It is plain ugly, doesn't matter how fast it is if I can't sit in a coffee shop when people are thinking "Do you really need to show you're a nerd that much?"
jeg15 @ Jan 7th 2009 4:18PM
Could that laptop get any more ugly?
That is some awful design if i ever saw it.
Tone @ Jan 7th 2009 5:27PM
omg this looks awful lmao
benjimon @ Jan 7th 2009 5:54PM
I'd rather have a 10key and better performance then the boring look of a mac anyday
Uncontrol @ Jan 7th 2009 5:57PM
why do you assume that anyone who thinks this is fucking hideous has a mac
there are literally countless computers out there that look better than this, mostly because this is the ugliest computer ever
Nadool @ Jan 7th 2009 8:23PM
Maybe he just thinks Macs are ugly? Oh and I don't know if you realize this Uncontrol, but this is Engadget. I think he'd be pretty safe in that assumption if he did even assume that at all.
benjimon @ Jan 7th 2009 6:36PM
I think it looks neat-o I'd like to have it in blue though
Kiteless @ Jan 7th 2009 7:05PM
The pictures don't do it justice. It looks even uglier in person! Just heasd down to your local Best Buy. The specs are impressive though. It is FAAAST, but I wpuld never buy one. I have a 2 year old MacBook running Leopard for daly computing and an Asus G50VT X1 for gaming, both, smexy laptops.
Felix @ Jan 7th 2009 7:55PM
no blu-ray no sale
Wwhat @ Feb 18th 2009 3:57AM
You be weird.
(unless that was a sony-sponsored remark of course)
superhobo @ Jan 8th 2009 2:30AM
So ugly...so good.
