Move over
LG,
Vizio is now the second manufacturer bypassing the set-top box and doing
Netflix streaming straight to the TV. Apparently just one of Vizio's "key content partners" expect to browse your queue via customized remote over wired or wireless connection when the new lineup hits retailers later this year. Looks like someones putting in work on that goal of enabling
streaming to all US households.

I must say that I first used netflix within a few months of them opening shop and did not have a good experience. Since NXE I signed back up and am very pleased. They really straightened things out.

Then change your name to:
"GeezyG tries Netflix, seems pleased"

With all these new devices able to stream from Netflix, I hope they have enough bandwidth to do it.

I dont know if anyone had this issue, but there is an addon for the ps3 thats called playon.. and it supports the netflix streaming the ps3. The problem I had with it was if you netflix account was under the beta for silverlight.. it doesnt work. So i wonder two things..
1) if you have the silverlight version of netflix will it still work?
2) if it doesn work with silverlight then hopefully the playon plugin will work eventually
I say that cause my xbox gold membership has expired and having to pay for it just to stream netflix seems pointless since the ps3 does all my streaming in the first place with that cool ps3 java media streamer...it would be nice to have that feature...

EDIT:
2) if it DOES work with silverlight then hopefully the playon plugin will work eventually

Solution to problem:
Go buy a Netflix streaming device, something meant to stream Netflix and was designed to do so by the company that created the device. Hm, like maybe a 360, or a Roku box or something like that. Don't try to run it on your PS3, Sony doesn't care about giving it's users awesome things for free. All they could ever come up with was Home, which is basically a free version of the Sims.

^^You Sir are and idiot........the PS3 Supports Netflix Streaming fine...as a DNLA Server it was DESIGNED to do that........By summer the PS3 will support Netflix or Blockbuster thru a firmware update........
He said he HAS a 360 and doesnt want to pay for another year of gold Subscription JUST to stream netflix........Awsome things for free!?!?? you DO Realize you have to PAY for Netflx streaming on the 360 right??? its called a Gold Subscription.....
Saying home is a free version of The Sims just shows how much of dumb ass you are........as Home is not a game yet a portal.........and unlike the sims there are REAL people controlling the avatars.........
in other words........shat the fuck up.......

FYI, Playon does support Silverlight as of several days ago.

PSN: Aggie_CEO @ Jan 8th 2009 8:32AM
goodbye blu-ray???
you must not like new releases, extra content, and OWNING the content........
Hooterman @ Jan 8th 2009 1:11PM
or high bitrate video and uncompressed audio
Jack @ Jan 7th 2009 7:28PM
I tried out Netflix streaming and it was quite good, however the selection of movies were somewhat limited. I wouldn't say goodbye to pressed media just yet because I believe that content providers will not allow streaming media at the new titles until they have squeezed every last penny out of what they can sell.. That's why most of the streaming movies are older. (Not bad mind you, just older)

too cool, i can not wait to upgrade to a Vizio
