New BUGModules hands-on
These new BUGModules from BUG Labs aren't much to look at, but just holding them in your hands really gets your gears going about what new kinds of custom gadgets you could come up with. The new modules are really ones that open up the possibilities and make us think, "what if I want to use more than four modules?" The usefulness of the wireless adapters like WiFi and 3G go without saying, but the possibilities of having a projector in your pocket with sound could really lead to something. And last but not least, who wouldn't want the Swiss Army Knife of input and output on their custom gadget?

It looks like a blackberry would have looked if they existed back in the 80's. Lets set one next to the Zack Morris Brick Phones :)

It's just a BFG (Big Fat Gadget), that's all.

I know, honestly, when I first saw it, I thought to myself, "That's an ugly Blackberry."
Wiiman @ Jan 8th 2009 10:49PM
Its ugly because its cheap.

So this is the Palm Pre, huh? I don't get all the excitement. Looks fat imo.

BugPhone 3G here I come!
(I'll have to ask the Dev team about a jailbreak :/ )

These are stinkin' cool, but just too expensive for me to want to tinker with myself. Depending on what exactly you want to do, buying a phone, netbook, or PMP for cheaper could be the better option.
These would be sweet for engineering class projects, though.

I wonder if this is where RED got their modular inspiration.

When I originally heard of this about 2 years ago I assumed it was just going to end up as vaporware. I'm glad to see its finally a real product. With that being said it looks very bulky/ugly. It seems like it's primarily meant for enthusiasts.

Sure it's all in its developers bulky clothes right now, but boys and girls, lads and lassies, you be looking at the first REAL Tricorder as first proposed by the very first Star Trek series.

Oooh! Cool. Can the 3G and Wifi modules combine to create an open version of a cradlepoint router?
