Palm Pre's wireless charger, the Touchstone

Palm just announced its wireless charger for the new Palm Pre, dubbed the Touchstone. No word on whether this is optional or standard, or if it's optional how much it'll go for, but it's certainly great to see a mainstream device get something like this first party.
Update: Palm's website is saying this will be sold separately.

The Yugo has been re-released with updated interior, GPS, Satellite Radio and new hybrid solar technology.

Palm sure did there homework! Great work!

The last 2 phones I've had used the usb plug to charge. I have them all over the house. Ones for the computer because of my camera, the car because of my bluetooth headset and the one it came with for the wall outlet.
I kinda prefer being able to grab any one of these cables to charge my phone rather than one charging station even if I do have to use a wire to charge it.
i wish they had more information of were further on the project, curious what the power consumption to charge rate will be.
According to the palm website - it's an optional.

Anybody else notice that on the Palm website it states "Requires Palm Pre back cover for Touchstone charging dock, sold separately." So not only do you have to buy the Touchstone seperately, but you have to buy a different back for the Pre as well! That's cruddy.
WTF? Sold separately I can understand, but "Requires Palm Pre back cover for Palm Touchstone™ charging dock, sold separately" I don't understand. Yes, I can dig that you'll eventually expand the Touchstone line to include more devices, but for now wouldn't it make sense to include the back cover for the only device it supports with the only charger it supports?
I do like the car charger they whipped up though - very diminutive.
snatcher beat me to it .. induction charging has been in my toothbrush a long while...
the main problem I have been having with these new gen phones is the inability to operate them comfortably with one hand .. I have had a treo 650 and now 700 for several years now .. and I can do just about everything except type a longer than 50 character line with only one hand .. the new gesture based phones make it difficult to navigate with a single paw. any one else have any similar experiences? between the options of the 5way navigator, the option/key board shortcuts and touch screen buttons just within reach of my freewheeling thumb .. there is little need for occupying my other 5 digits.
I tried the G1 for about a day and inability to comfortably operate with one hand was one, among several, of my big reasons for turning it back in. Chattermail on the palm OS simply runs circles around the G1 email app and that was one of my other main reasons for the G1's shortlived life with me.
I'd appreciate other feedback before I get too excited about another gesture based phone built for those that don't seem to be power users. But rather whimsical finger draggers.
hey isnt that guy in the picture an apple employee?
Yes, and that big button pictured in the background with "Palm" written on it is the emergency call to Palm when Apple has problems.
Doubles as a hockey puck.
didn't wireless charging technology exist since the first cordless phone with a cradle was brought out?
