Palm's Pre gets its own spot on Sprint's website
Merely minutes after Palm shook up the mobile realm with the introduction of the Pre, Sprint -- its exclusive launch partner -- has already hosted up a dedicated website for what will unquestionably be its flagship device. Currently, all the site offers is a way to get informed of when it'll be out, but that's all you really need at the moment, now isn't it?

John Doe @ Jan 8th 2009 4:02PM
Well...first thing I thought of is...
How does a "precise GPS help you get out of any jam"?
jakem @ Jan 8th 2009 4:28PM
I don't suppose all these gushing posts have anything to do with the fact that this phone is now advertised all over this site, do they?
Ryan @ Jan 8th 2009 3:39PM
"Dat OS is WICKET-SMAHT."
Grammar freak @ Jan 8th 2009 3:49PM
Wicket smart - is this a cricket game? Good try but sounds much more brooklyn than brookline.
Deano @ Jan 8th 2009 3:40PM
AT&T got the iPhone.

VZW FAIL.

That's only on instant VHS, they haven't come out with instant DVD yet.

Congrats Palm, you've made a lot of people smile with absolute joy; you will grow big. :)

ben @ Jan 8th 2009 3:42PM
Wow, they really turned around... Hopefully in the right direction, they seemed a bit misguided for a few years and the GPS is going to come in handy!
dalus87 @ Jan 8th 2009 3:42PM
SPRINT????!?!??!?!
...WHY!!!!
bajanboss @ Jan 8th 2009 3:43PM
just evening the playing field
u8myfoood @ Jan 8th 2009 7:01PM
Sprint actually has RELIABLE 3G connections, cheaper prices for overall service than either AT&T or Verizon and recently has improved their payment systems, as well as dramatically improved their customer service.
And on behalf of those of us on SERO, I LOVE THE PRICING!
Kaitou KID @ Jan 8th 2009 7:40PM
uhh...why NOT?
Oh I get it, you don't actually have reasons, but since you see it on here a lot and other websites you decided to post it to sound cool and informed when in reality you have no goddamn clue about anything. Fail.
That said, I'm so happy Sprint has an awesome phone now. SERO PLAN FTW!
Jesus Frias @ Jan 8th 2009 3:45PM
this makes me regret the HTC Touch PRO from sprint :(
Big Boy @ Jan 9th 2009 2:46AM
You're Joking right? Sorry I'm a die hard WM fan forgive me. You're Joking right?
Hardcore @ Jan 8th 2009 3:46PM
Because Sprint is freaking awesome? Sero + This Phone = EPIC WIN
DBrim @ Jan 8th 2009 3:46PM
Dear Sprint,
Please don't make this like the Instinct, where you need an Everything plan to get the phone. I don't need an Everything plan, nor want to pay that much per month for this, so please please PLEASE be sensible.
Otherwise I'll wait for your exclusivity to end.
Signed,
A concerned consumer
Kris @ Jan 8th 2009 4:02PM
You don't _need_ an everything plan to get the Instinct. They just make it look that way ;)
Though, to be honest, unless you're grandfathered into sero or its successor, SEP is the best deal. Just get the lowest one that comes with 450 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited data, unlimited sms, unlimited SprintTV, unlimited GPS, etc for $69
sndmn23 @ Jan 8th 2009 4:46PM
You ABSOLUTELY need an Everything Plan to get the Instinct. There are just a few different types, not just the $99.99 version, but you DO need one of those plans to have it.
Sevenmack @ Jan 8th 2009 5:25PM
You'd just as well get the Simply Everything Plan. I love it. Given my business and that I spend lots of time on the phone with friends all scattered throughout the country (and, more importantly, my fiancee, to whose Indiana home I commute during the weekends when not in NY or DC), it's just the best plan. If T-Mo had as good a plan (and full 3G coverage and good overall coverage), I would have stayed. But now that I'm with Sprint, I'm digging the plan, the service and now, the chance to get my hands on the Pre. Color me impressed.
joe23521 @ Jan 8th 2009 3:46PM
Seriously considering switching carriers for this phone. I wonder how much it will go for.
bajanboss @ Jan 8th 2009 3:47PM
im guessin the usual 300 with two year contract
Grammar freak @ Jan 8th 2009 3:47PM
Sprint is terribbbllllleeeeeee... can't we just fast forward a year or two and get the inevitable verizon version? Or I wonder how unlockable it'll be?
Hardcore @ Jan 8th 2009 3:50PM
Correction, Sprint USED to be Terrible. Verizon SUCKS BALLS. They lock you, disable all the phones features, in and nickel and dime you to death
Craig @ Jan 8th 2009 3:54PM
Terrible? I'd agree about terrible customer service, but wireless coverage and network speeds (at least around where we are and most every place I travel to) are pretty freaking awesome.
MAAD @ Jan 8th 2009 5:08PM
I have Sprint now.. and they're definitely getting better in the CS department.. 2 years ago I could barely get through to them.. now I can get a CS Rep and they call you 2 weeks to a month later to see if everything's alright
KSmithInNY @ Jan 8th 2009 5:25PM
Spoken like someone who has not used Sprint and are simply judging from the stigma surrounding Sprint.
Sprint USED to have the worst CS in the business. Since management change and the intro of the SEP (hard to screw up my bill when i get unlimited everything!) I went from calling sprint several times a month to ...... well i haven't called them in about 6 months.
CS aside, the network is awesome! I can only speak to Western Florida, Southern Michigan, and Western New York but my Sprint cell phone has not dropped a call once that i can remember.
BIg Boy @ Jan 9th 2009 2:51AM
I've had sprint the last 3.5 years and they have improved by leaps and bounds to keep our business. They are very willing to negotiate and being a premier customer they kinda suck up a bit. Add the fact that they have the best all inclusive plan and great data coverage you should re-evaluate.
ori @ Jan 8th 2009 3:47PM
I hope later Pre is available in operator free flavors for Europe and Asia.... I also hope there is a video about the device coming soon from engadged and a dedicated web special from Palm
bill cant fart @ Jan 8th 2009 3:47PM
I don't know if I want a phone that's on fire... looks like that stuff could cause some serious ouchies.
Blu-Sam @ Jan 8th 2009 3:48PM
I want it now!
okay, I'll waiting, damnit.
Alberto @ Jan 8th 2009 3:48PM
and the notification email is down , good job sprint
i am considering switching from iphone to this, gasp. will depend on the price and such
tim @ Jan 8th 2009 3:49PM
CDMA == fail
neodorian @ Jan 8th 2009 3:52PM
Yeah, I hate all that speed and coverage at half the cost of competing data plans.
Kaitou KID @ Jan 8th 2009 7:42PM
see what happened there tim? You talked outta your ass and got owned. TIMMAH!
Esat Dedezade @ Jan 8th 2009 3:50PM
Any news of a UK launch? This is added to my list of possible future phones, along with the N97
decypher44 @ Jan 8th 2009 3:50PM
I keep getting errors when I try to submit my contact info. Are they already getting slammed?
Edward @ Jan 8th 2009 3:54PM
EV-DO is fantastic, and the choice of Sprint makes complete sense. SPRINT was the only carrier willing to bet on Palm's Treo 300 and Handspring's Treo 600 when they first came out, so I'm glad that I'm still with the only carrier who's ALWAYS believed in PALM!
John P @ Jan 8th 2009 3:58PM
This will be mine when i get back from Europe in May. And I'll be eligible for upgrade. Can't wait.
oversteer325 @ Jan 8th 2009 3:59PM
I'm happy sprint is getting this phone.
1. I'm on Sprint.
2. They don't cripple their phones.
3. CDMA has better fringe service than GSM. Where I live ATT and TMobile drop calls all the time. Sprint/Verizon/CDMA call quality is the same regardless of how many bars you have. As long as you have signal you can make a call. Good luck doing that on ATT/TMobile/GSM where 1 bar = no service basically.
Victor Agreda Jr @ Jan 8th 2009 4:00PM
I just adore how they've mixed the branding between the typed version Palm Pre and the designed logo palm prē
I'm pronouncing it "pray" as in "pray for palm"
Good luck with that undetermined "array of apps to outmaneuver the competition" ... There's still no voodoo doll on iPhone, so ya got that going for you.
Patriks7 @ Jan 8th 2009 4:06PM
I think that ē is supposed to be kinda pronounced like the "ay" in pray.. Something like "ae" in German..
