well unless you live in Alaska or something where the sun never comes up for months at a time, then you should still be able to use sunglasses in the winter. i know its cold and all but the sun is still bright.
I'm not privy to all the workings of CES, but doesn't it cost some dough to set up a booth on the floor? Doesn't it take finances to present your product? If so, why is this product getting ANY floor space? Do they honestly believe it will sell?
While not a new idea its not that bad of an idea. But I too can glue a a2dp receiver to my sunglasses. Slap some velrco on there and add some modular extensions. GPS, thumbdrives, hold my zippo lighter etc.
Exactly. Now they can whip through moving traffic even more carelessly, and continue blaming the giant bus they pulled out in front of, while enjoying the sounds of the illustrious Axl Rose. YAY!
If I am biking in traffic I will get no useful information by listening. Yes I might hear that truck coming, but not hearing anything doesn't mean there isn't a tesla roadster bearing down on me, so I'll have to look anyway to be safe. Not that I would buy these and look like an even bigger dork.
And there are these things called parks and forests
Attaching clothing together has a lot more problems, making it harder to put on, and meaning both have to be washed together. I wear different socks each day, but not a new pair of trousers each day.
Now, granted the anaology works in that they would have a simerla problem of limited options; Combined earphones and glass's, like combined trousers and socks, mean I can''t wear one without the other.
However, I cant ever see a downside to having wireless earphones on the glass's even when not in use, so in this case the disadvantage only flows one way; Can't use the earpones without the glass's.
So this disadvantage, and presumably the disadvantage of a cost which is unspecified, has to be weighed against the advantage of having the soundsystem always there, and less fiddly to put on. I can certainly picture slipping this on quickly and its going to be more convient then having a wire trailing down to my mp3 player. Compared to other wireless earphones (of which there dosnt seem to be much options), the advantage is stability and comfort....having something unfixed to anything but your ear while ridding or even running is *a lot* more likely to fall out then this is.
So, as with any product, pro's and con's, but I think people are far too quick to call out crap here. I suspect its just sheep falling into line, few people thinking about it, and just going on first impressions of the display.
I dont see whats so bad about these? I go biking and always listen to music when I do. These would make it alot easier without having to use wired like I do now. They do look kinda dorky tho. Maybe in 5 years from now, when they can fit this technology into a smaller package so it looks better I would buy them?
Obviously these arnt meant to be worn as regular sunglasses, and meant for people who ride bikes, which im sure 95% of the people who read engadget dont do.
I've had mine for 6 months. I download the mp3 songs and don't have to deal with wires, ear buds or headphones. Holds a little over 2 hours of music so it's great when trekking around town on the bike or taking a road trip and your spouse has different musical preferences. The shades flip up when it gets darker (which make you look dorky) but you don't have to remove them in the middle of your favorite song.
It fits snug enough I can go running in them, but they start to hurt after about an hour.
It's best not to fold the glasses up when not in use. The constant folding will pinch one of the wires running to the speaker and you'll lose sound in one/both sides.

If CES is anything like the Auto Shows, there's always a section where the craptastic crap is crapped.

Quick question: Are your socks attached to your trousers?
Darkflame @ Jan 10th 2009 4:27PM

Got mine cheap on ebay ~ $14.00 (free shipping).
