Cisco nearing 8600 multiroom tru2way box tests
Still waiting for multiroom HD streaming from your cable company? Cisco's contender, the Explorer 8600 is apparently expected to start trials in Q2, giving customers a taste of the MoCa 1.1, 500GB storing, tru2way enabled experience they've been wanting. Multichannel News says DLNA and DTCP support is in the package powered by a new more powerful 6th gen processor, and should be ready for a real rollout in the third quarter. Cisco, please don't disappoint us.

Verizon FiOS has had this for a while now
Time Warner Cable is going to deploy Samsung SMT-H3090 HD-DVR's with MoCA enabled. TWC may order them with 320 GB HDD's.
Where did you hear this? I have been in DVR hell with the 8300HDC ever since I got it.
system48,
I found this info out a long time ago. Samsung has been developing this DVR for TWC and BHN for a few years. They are new to the cable box world. The SMT-H3090 runs ODN which is the same software as the 8300HDC. It does however have much better hardware than the 8300HDC. Samsung has also deployed a SMT-H3050 HD STB but thats just your run of the mill OCAP HD STB spec wise.
The real issue is "who" will deploy it for them, since cisco can't deploy it thmeslevs (or at least won't sell it as a straight up CE end device).
Griffon,
I expect cablecos that use SA boxes will deploy them. TWC might deploy them but most of their divisions are testing the Samsung SMT-H3090. That HD-DVR has MoCA, DTCP, DLNA, uPnP, and other cool stuff. Expect a 160 GB HDD in the Samsung but if TWC is super nice they could give us a 320 GB HDD. I told the president in my division to get them with a 320 GB HDD.
