Video: Kintore-Z robot is easily the world's most bizarre
Oh, we get it alright; Kintore-Z is a robot designed to compete in Japan's Baca RoboCup (baka means "foolish" or "stupid" in Japanese). But that doesn't explain why the child is absently holding a toothbrush now does it? Click through for one of the strangest, most bizarre videos you'll ever see on Engadget... or anywhere else for that matter.

Nobody mess with big bushed Zohan,....... nobody!
that was creepy. millions and millions of creepy.
i like robots
i like robots
This is what nightmares are made of
but... why would robots need to do push ups?
Duh! To see which robot is the manliest! It also helps win over the lady-type-bots.
It's very interesting though it doesn't understand why!
The title of the article states "kinstore" instead of "kintore"
the toothbrush must be the best swag/chachki you can get nowadays....
It's videos like this that the robot overlords will use as evidence of humans abusing their forefathers to rally their troops against us, well you...
... I am going to be modified into an Adrian Barbobot with strength of 10 gorrilaz. It's time to choose sides!
... what's the robot saying?
It would help to know that...
a bit chaotic anyway ...
...and the falling of the arms were on purpose?
Japan is the world's most bizarre country, so...
Because ur media always portray japan like that. There is no point of freedom of speech if everyone is brainwashed by the same media.
So THAT is how car factory robots get trained.
I can see Youtube reaction video's to this, becoming the next viral internet sensation....
But seriously...wtf?
well.. this was some kind of convention/show, right? The toothbrush looks new, so I'm going to assume that someone was passing out free toothbrushes as a kind of advertisement/promotion and the kid happened to get one. When I lived in Japan I used to get all kinds of weird free samples... tissues, condoms, hand lotion, mosquito repellent, etc.
the sign on the left hand in black and white translates to something like be serious and focus. So... I mean.. yeah this whole thing looks like a big waste of time and money to me.
Mum! I'm scared!
Okay, that's pretty scary. And no matter how many times I rewatch it I can't tell if there is any point to that toothbrush...
The audio is too fuzzy for me to hear clearly, but I know for certain that what's happening in the TV there is a parody of the Billy Blanks/Billy's Boot Camp videos that were all the rage in Japan. On the wall behind Kintore-z is a poster written by him proclaiming his goal, which I guess is to be like Mazinger Z. It says Mezase! (Go for it!/Aim for it!) MaziOger! (The O is often used to obscure the full spelling of copywritten names to avoid infringement.)
Either that robot is gigantic or that kid is minuscule. There cannot be any other explanation -- at least not one that I will accept.
Hmmm...it looks like Daft Punk needs to get this robot for their next music video.
Funny and disturbing. I liked it when the arms fell off. I think It is a performance art display.
Well now I'm pretty sure I WON'T be sleeping tonight.
The kid looks like WTF is this crap.
Yawn... Zohan did it first!
:D
He worked his arms off!
Having served in the military, push-ups now give me nightmares. However, this was funny. I wish I could have continued to do push-ups when me arms failed. Of course, my eye-browse were of no use then and now.
I think the Japanese have a wonderful sense of humor and this imaginative expressions just goes to show if we can't be in shape, well maybe our androids will.
HAHAHAHAHAHA,
Be afraid, very afraid.
