Nothing from Palm will ever be the same now that the Pre has been made public. Definitely not a WinMo device.
I will be buying two since our account is up. Several things are being missed here.
If you don't like this keyboard you wont like the Pre keyboards since they are identical. Everyone prefers their last "keyboard."
A person said Palm's new OS is more stable. Fascinating. This is based on tests you conducted over a few months with webOS? Or reading Palm' press hype?
If Pre comes in March or April, we will have a good idea of its stability with the type of powerful programs WM can handle, in late summer.
@Pascal
WebOS has been in development for over 2 years, the lucky few from the media who got to see a completed version of the Pre have said the OS is not only stable, it is very fluid and fast.
@p3t3b2
The fact that webOS has been in development and weathered many delays for four years (not two) does not mean it is going to work with no problems. The type of public testing of it that the "lucky few" got, amounts to a cursory test with a limited number of apps, many third party aps that are supposed to be include on the final device not included, etc.
webOS may turn out to be the best thing ever (until a new best thing comes along), but there is no evidence that it any more or less buggy than winmob.
I donn't love winmob, but many power users and institutional accounts are not going to pick webOS up until it has been out for a couple of quarters.
is it kinda bad that i prefer this over the pre?
It's bad and you should feel bad.
but i love the design and winmo :(
i wonder if someone will get webos on this thing whenever it is released
Your head needs to be checked.
No, but it means that you're finally "Pre"-mature: mature enough to prefer others over the pre.
Yea, there is something horribly wrong with your brain... How could anyone on earth actually "love" windows mobile? Its just terrible... Palm's new OS, iPhone OS, Android, Symbian, even Blackberry OS are all much more usable and stable..
I think it's a good looking fone, but if you prefer Windows Mobile over WebOS than you sir, are an asshole.
It could tide you over until the Pre is out in market w/ kinks worked out and first month pricing reduced.
I was an owner (however brief) of the unlocked GSM version of this phone. I couldn't bear it after two weeks of use. As with all Palms, the keyboard is ridiculously small for even someone with the smallest hands. Second, this is an absolute fingerprint magnet like none other. Third, I had the problem like so many others have had before me, the body began to crack. I suppose other than that it was alright?
Strange
I own this phone for like 2 months already ... (in Belgium that is)
Had the "advocate" phone at my sprint store for almost a week now.
Where have you seen this in the store?
I will go there now and get one.
Yea! I don't have to learn WinMo! Long live the Pre!
Since the Pre announcement this looks like exactly what it is: another Treo retread.
Folks, it was last gen before they produced it, seriously.
I see this phone as a welcome addition to Sprint's line up. If you like the candy bar form factor with full QWERTY keyboard and TOUCH SCREEN then this is pretty much the only phone out that has all of these options.
I also personally like Windows Mobile... I know its not perfect but there are tons of free apps out for it. Plus with PDANet I can get free tethering. Im excited to start seeing some new details for Windows Mobile 6.5 and 7.
iPhone box killer:) pathetic!!!!
People need to stop hating Windows Mobile. The OS is stellar especially 6.1. HAvent had any problems with it whatsover. Copy and Paste is such an amazing function. This phone will be a great buy for those who dont like the Treo Pro or wont be able to afford it. Not to mention it looks sexy as hell and has expandable memory. When you phones die and you have important information that you cant get off of it Those with Treo Pros will be laughing.
