Adapt MPJ-101 pico projector: tiny, cute, available

Go ahead, you can admit it: you're really, really into picos -- the best of us are. Adapt's update to its pocket projector, the MPJ-101 -- which is nearly identical to the previous model -- shouldn't fill us with joy, but it does. This little (125 x 55 x 23 mm) monster's got 1GB of built in memory, an SD slot, and two .5 watt speakers. It projects up to 10 lumens of brightness at a resolution of 640×480 from around 6 to 50 feet. All this excitement doesn't come cheap, though -- expect to shell out about a thousand bucks for this teeny bundle of joy. Oh boy.

Guilty. I want one! Just not for a grand.
a thousand bucks? wow, but that thing is cute
Are they even aware that there's a recession going on!
$1000! N.F.C.
$200 - $300 maybe.
One grand for a projector w/o VGA input?! Not really, then I definitely rather go for the 3M pico projecter which is IIRC even cheaper.
Remember the movie "Batteries Not Included?" This bears a cute, striking resemblence to the little guys.
This looks like a cute micro sentry gun.
"I see you."
"Dispensing product."
*blam*
call me when they finally switch to laser...
Ha that's hilarious - 1000 dollars - try $412 - for the EXACT same thing.... : http://www.firebox.com/product/2235/Pocket-Cinema?currency_conversion=1

Please, give my the thousand bucks....i will act out the movie for you!
Bow chika bow wow!
Based on 3M LCoS technology. Virtually the same product from 3M is $300:

Awesome photoshop job.
Also, I have that generic looking tripod and therefore I am superior to all of you.
I think anyone that's gotten a point-and-shoot in the past five years has that same tripod.
"Tiny, cute, available?" Sounds like the personal ad I answered last night. HEYOOH!
okay, stupid
Sounds like the gadget waif who is strangely missing from the picture.
I confess I don't see the appeal of these projectors. Can someone explain to me why I'd want a crappy, dim (10 lumens?) projector that costs an arm and a leg? I just don't see the point.
And I'm pretty sure my shadow is brighter than 10 lumens at 50 feet.
Ten whole lumens? Are you supposed to shine it directly in your eye?
I'm not sure I understand how "pico projectors" are desirable. Granted, I've never used one, or even seen one in action, but I can't help but wonder how often something like that is actually useful. I mean, how many times a day is anyone just sitting in front of a white wall? Or, how often do you find time to just sit down and watch a movie or some TV or whatever when you aren't at home on the couch in front of your TV? I already have an iPhone, and it's size is fine for my purposes, especially on the go so I'm baffled as to what practical uses this would have for most people. Besides, I can't even remember the last time I actually used my iPhone to watch a movie or TV show (Airplane trip to Europe I think). The most video use I really get out of the iPhone are random visits to youTube when someone wants me to watch a video or vice versa.
Can someone please try and explain to me the allure of these devices?
Is it "just because" or is there actual practical reasons for people to own these?
I am a sales manager for Adapt-Mobile in Europe. www.adapt-mobile.com
