iWork '09 trojan infects at least 20,000 machines?
Quite a number of no-goodniks who thought they'd save a few bucks by downloading a pirated version of iWork '09 have gotten more than they'd bargained for -- in the form of a Trojan Horse called OSX.Trojan.iServices.A. This guy installs itself in the computer's startup as root, and once in place it can connect to a remote server and broadcast its location, allowing malicious users to take charge of the machine remotely. And since it has root access to the OS, the trojan can not only install additional components but can also modify existing apps, making this thing extremely difficult to remove. According to a white paper released by Intego, at least 20,000 people may have downloaded the infected software -- which they'll get around to installing as soon as they finish those episodes of Celebrity Rehab they grabbed at the same time.[Via Macworld]

Is Ballmer get pwned just yet? I've heard he loves using Apple's Keynote?
Damn M$! Oh, wait...my bad. :)
Elk Cloner
so it begins first iworks and whats next. People are people clicking on things that they should not be clicking and that also including windows users as well.
Good analogy, dude
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Buy a license. I'm happily running the trial at the moment to determine if an upgrade from iWork 08 is worth it and quite impressed so far. Quality work deserves to be rewarded and it's not like iWork is expensive. Put another way, if you don't buy a license then the bloody serial codes and (*shudders*) "online activation" will put in an appearance to inconvenience legitimate customers. Like me.
How can Intego state "at least 20,000 people may have downloaded the infected software"?
By saying "at least" that would state "at a minimum" yet the statement "may have" implies they don't know how many did it? How can they state a minimum number if they don't know how many people downloaded it?
Sounds like fear mongering to me.
Aaaah, a Mac virus.

fixed
So no one will make reference to the Mac commerical where they said they can't get sick? I knew this was coming because you never want to poke fun at the hackers of the world.
I thought if you wore a Trojan you could not get a virus. Or at least that's what they taught us in the sixth grade. Does the same not apply to MACs?
But...but Macs are so secure! Nothing ever goes wrong with a Mac! They don't get infected!
Wake up Mac users. As far and few between Mac virusi are, they are usually more devesating than bugs that PCs get. Not to mention my McAfee catches them on the rare occasion that I get attacked by one.
Take Windows for example open a folder containing a trojan and your done no need to install it will run on it's own or any virus on pc needs no user interaction. But mac needs you to install it so it's an application that you gave access to your root system. A virus does not need permission to infect it just does that is a feature included in every windows pc worldwide. Apple is safe only an idiot would install pirate software instead of getting the real thing directly from the maker it's cheap already.
