nothing nail in sprint? how many nails can this coffin take.
Caboose @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:13PM
edit: Should read Another
sndmn23 @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:32PM
How would this be considered a "nail in the coffin"? Companies do crap like this all the time. It's a stretch to think this would negatively impact their business in any significant way.
msalivar @ Jan 22nd 2009 6:27PM
Especially since nobody really cares about the Treo Pro with the Pre on the horizon, and the people who do will just want it to be as solid as possible, to hold them out until WebOS is mature.
Jay Voorhees @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:16PM
The treo pro is so scared of the Pre that it just gave up and accepted the red ring of death pre-emptively.
000000 @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:18PM
Haha good one. Seriously though the Pre hasn't even been release yet it may have some serious bugs when it comes out. Let's just not put it on a pedestal yet.
Hackettman @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:41PM
Yeah I played with the pro and it was responsive and delicious.... Like a sandwich....
sndmn23 @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:42PM
@hackettman:
If you like "responsive" sandwiches, we will not be having lunch together anytime soon. :)
holycow @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:25PM
they should just put WebOS on this thing and then release it!
P.S. Engadget please fix the comment section. All the posts just remain Neutral, however when you click on the timestamp of the post it shows the correct "rank"
Kris120890 @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:32PM
They've also being sent to random people. I've had quite a few highest ranked comments since Christmas that have not shown up outside of timestamps. Most of my comments have been sent to people when I'm %100 I sent them to the right people.
Andre @ Jan 23rd 2009 1:11PM
U people take this comment thing wway to seriosly.
Freakin Ijit @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:37PM
That TreoCentral poster said his correspondence with Sprint said it was coming in =MAY=.
I wonder if the Sprint guy confused Pre with Pro?
And, if so, do we now have a better idea of Pre release date?
ekimagem @ Jan 22nd 2009 3:55PM
Yea i called earlier this morning and they said it was a Glitch and it Will Be out in May of 2009
Then i got to thinkin......If they can "Glitch" a new phone onto the Site....That means they know wat the hell phones are coming out and when....So i wonder if they can "Glitch" a blackberry Bold on the Sprint Site......or the Pre.....
Cuz if its not out until MAY, then wat are they doin wit all the Specs 5 months ahead of time and Whats stopping them from Putting it on the site with a HUGE Print next to it that says "Available MAY 09" Kinda like How T-Mobile is doing with the Blackberry 8900.
Dont bullshit your customers, give them a heads up on releases not a Week before its out. Theres nuthin worse than buying a Phone one month and then its replacement comes out a few months later and you had no clue. What kind of Business Model is that??
Now im holding off on that 8830 and 8330 cuz theyre discounting them $300. Must mean sumthin....
go seki @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:12PM
Any idea who manufactures this "Glitch"? what its specs are? will it be an iPhone killer?
Seriously the US is really badly served by its mobile carriers. Ok the service is cheap but you're getting what you pay for.
If OS were easily shoe-horned onto older devices there's no incentive to upgrade .. eg Symbian 9.3 FP2 is really nice and would be a great upgrade for most of the current N series devices .. will Nokia upgrade them all .. heck no .. they need to sell the new models.
One can hold out hope for Android I suppose.
Freakin Ijit @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:40PM
Yeah, that's right - it was you, not the TreoCentral guy, who said "May". That sounds more like the Pre intro date and the Sprint guy just got confused.
'Course, maybe now we have a better idea of Pre intro date!
JerkyChew @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:12PM
Jeez, I wonder how much my "friend" could get selling "his" Sprint Treo Pro on ebay. Think it would hit a grand?
BTW, since nobody else has mentioned this I'll break it now - The browser has full Flash support! It passed the all-important zombo.com test!
Tdburn @ Jan 22nd 2009 4:35PM
You can do anything at Zombo.com, anything at all!

dcoaster @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:26PM
What's that noise? Oh, it's just the screeching sound of a better product!
Look @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:40PM
Sure dcoaster, A true iPhone Killer right;)
dcoaster @ Jan 22nd 2009 6:57PM
A better product that doesn't have the appeal of the young generation of suckers who settle for less.
Look @ Jan 22nd 2009 7:24PM
Less is more! Don't you know that by now dcoaste:)
William @ Jan 22nd 2009 5:25PM
I wonder if it was pulled because it didn't blend.
The iphone and the iphone 3G blend.
Super-sic @ Jan 22nd 2009 6:46PM
I just got a dell advertisment in the mail that had a palm treo pro with a car adapter listed for $(USD) 549.99... SKU# A2287655
Call Dell @ 1-(800)-219-7138
This is very interesting. It also says "Unlocked", is that why? Maybe only sprint stoped it's displaying of units?
Super-sic @ Jan 22nd 2009 6:49PM
Oh you an also go to

Matt @ Jan 22nd 2009 7:13PM
So let me get this straight. The Touch Pro went through testing? If they're testing the Treo Pro with the same "testing standards" as the stock Touch Pro ROM, I'd say release the damned thing already.
Denster2u @ Jan 22nd 2009 10:03PM
The Palm Treo Pro was available yesterday at my local Best Buy, in Greensboro, NC. I had the phone in my hands.
Kristi @ Jan 22nd 2009 10:50PM
Official launch date is 1-25-09.
J @ Jan 23rd 2009 12:01PM
I was at the sprint store in Novi, MI and they had the Treo Pros there. Though they were not selling them yet.
Seemed like a nice phone, great touch screen but only had Win OS, no plam os in sight.
Pascal @ Jan 23rd 2009 5:31PM
They are waiting to reduce 800w stock. It has been selling very badly.
