Nokia ships half a million 5800 XpressMusic handsets in 30 days
If this were coming from any other mouth, we'd definitely second guess it. As it stands, though, it's hard to dispute the words of Nokia's CEO when it comes to matters involving Nokia. Mr. Olli Pekka Kallasvuo stated rather proudly during the firm's Q4 results call that it had shipped just over 500,000 5800 XpressMusic mobiles (better known as the Tube) in just 30 days. That figure becomes even more impressive when you realize that shipments only occurred in select markets, though it should be noted that "units shipped" and "units sold to end users" could indeed be very different things. Still, half a million in just a month ain't too shabby in today's economy, so here's the kudos you're clearly due, Nokia.

I bought this phone. It was crap. Had to give it back to the store. Basically,it's a cheap shot at iPhone usability. Nokia clearly didn't get the major advantages that touch-screen provides and basically just slapped the touch-screen interface to their S60 platform.
I have one and as much of a Nokia fan as I am, I totally agree. They just slapped S60 on a buttonless phone. Either they should have left a D-pad, put a gesture pad, scroll wheel or trackball or completely revamped the UI for touch. I stick with my E66 for everyday use.
been using this phone for exactly a week now. can't say how satisfied i am! really it is the complete package of features and functionality.
yes the touch is resistive and takes a little time to get used to, but the haptic vibra-feedback is the savior here! works really well, can be customized to 3 different levels of touch-vibra. the screen, omg the screen is amazing. 3.2inch yes, but the 640x360 resolution, down right AMAZING! this is what n95 or other nokia's should have had from the start! anyhow, amazing job there.
i copied a 2mbps bitrate 640x360 MP4 video, played directly through the built in Real player, and it played SO SMOOTHLY! no jerks at all! this phone, with the right 3rd party software, is future perfect! Anyone still having second thoughts, Believe me and Simply go and buy it! its 100% worth the (LOW) cost that its available at!
Excellent first attempt at s60 touch, nokia! congrats!!
Actually Nokia has shipped 1 million 5800 XpressMedia phones now.

Anybody know the release date of the NAM US 3g version?
Yea really, NAM PLZKTHNX
Nokia perfectly priced this phone in those select markets. Take India, 5800 sells for 19,000 INR while iPhone is priced at 36,000 INR.
And 5800 has copy-paste :P
Serious #'s that prove the iPhone is only hyped up here in America. Outside the U.S. people are all over Nokia's, HTC's, etc. Yes, of course the occasional iPhone is spotted in Europe or Asia but the market share is led by Nokia...
Nokia make a great product, I would personally have the iPhone because that's what we're used to here, the App Store, Apple computers, etc... But if I was a Win XP user and lives in Switzerland, I'd probably go with a Nokia...
