Soundbulb serves two great purposes, at least in theory

If we had to name two essentials to any geek home, well, we couldn't. But if we were jacked upside the wall and forced to, we'd likely pick sound and lighting. It goes without saying that designers Hoang M Nguyen, Poom Puttorngul and Anh Nguyen would agree, as they've dreamed up the conceptual Soundbulb that you see above. Essentially, what you're looking at is a light bulb that includes a small driver along with an embedded wireless module that would enable it to receive streaming audio from a transmitter. Oh sure, you wouldn't get any of that soul shaking bass from these guys, but just think of the convenience factor.

Wow, it hurts me to see so many careless commenters overlooking the wonderful beauty this invention would bring into the lives of so many deaf individuals. Granted, it may be ignorance of deaf culture & lifestyle - still ask yourself how your life would be without music (or any sound for that matter) and suddenly this product may seem far more appealing & exciting.

bulbs.,the truth hurts.Watch your words,in order to be the "iphonekiller" you must sell 1 million in 72 hours,then n only then can u earn coveted title of "iphone-killer"That is a sacred word n title.Wow,people actually still pay for music?itunes.,?isnt that an apple thing.So a music phone that will "guaranteed "not replace a video ipod. So far has no car integration steering wheel control ,no remote control docks, I should stop criticizing. But the reality is as a consumer people will still be looking to see,which phone can truly replace a true widescreen touchscreen video ipod.As long as the masses on a global scale are still paying upwards of $300-$400 for apple touch, best pre might do is second place or the first loser.So pre users will carry pre in left pocket n video ipod in right pocket,how cool.Remember we were all jizzing our pants just 3 months ago,when we first saw storm. So not till pre is released(pending clear patent violation lawsuit) customer approved,tried n tested,can we cast our vote . The light is LED. The LED light is replaceable, as is the speaker. The metal strip distributing power to the bulb and speakers appears to be thin, but not a delicate filament as in traditional bulbs.
