ASUS has been riding the Eee wave pretty high lately, and although things seem going pretty well for the powerhouse company, there might be some storm clouds in the distance --
Tweaktown's got a long piece translated from the Taiwan-only
Business Today which hints at some exec-level infighting going on at the top. It's pretty in-depth stuff, but the main takeaway seems to be that ASUS's
spinoff of its OEM manufacturing business as Pegatron ruffled a few feathers, leading Pegatron chairman Tung Tsu Hsien to apparently start thinking about launching his own consumer brand called PEGA Design to take on ASUS -- especially interesting since we just saw some
Pegatron-branded netbooks and nettops. We'll see if any of this comes to pass -- we'd be pretty into another huge company cranking out wild ideas like the
Eee keyboard.
If the Eee brand also spins off (previously mentioned as a possiblilty), their company structure would be just as complicated as their model structure (still love the products though).
what's next, the III, OOO, and UUU?
AAA
KKK
Lol nice one Sammy boy!
FFF first fail forever
Don't they realize by now that one shouldn't post "first", even if you don't use all caps? Besides, it isn't like this is an Apple landmark post having to do with a 4G iPhone or anything... even then you'd be labeled a moron and downranked.
I'd be tempted to buy their products just based on the fact that Pegatron is a kick-ass name.
Exactly. It's an oldschool name, the kind of stuff that the new generation doesn't love (instead they prefer the iCrap)
The fact that their netbooks would (hopefully) be ARM-based only makes it much better. (I love obscure (for non-nerds, anyway) stuff)
Wait until Megatron hears about this shit. Heads will roll.
Heads WILL roll. Specifically starscreams. He seems to always get the blame.
"You fail me yet again.."
its interesting that the spinoff company is going to be called PEGA, since ASUS' name originates from the word "pegasus".
OMG, it's about unicorns! And here I thought one of these companies was the precursor to SkyNet.
Asus has the biggest identity crisis out there. They launch a million Eees and then they are going to launch a competing brand.... What?
They launch loads of different models because they sell to many countries around the world, but then what are those idiots doing not listening to your corporate plans ?
Wow! Sounds like Apple when the Macintosh came out
...you mean when they started existing?
Thats like saying they're like BK when the cheeseburger came out.
EEESRock!

Hardly infighting, you spin off a seperate company and loads of people buy shares, ownership is watered down and they compete with each other that is the way of the corporate world and not strange in the least !
