Seattle crowned most wired city in America: where's your town?
Check it, Pacific Northwest -- Seattle, Washington was just named Forbes' most wired city for 2009, followed closely by Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Orlando and Boston. Of course, having Amazon and Microsoft within spitting distance probably didn't hurt matters, and the eleventy billion Starbucks WiFi hotspots likely pushed it over the edge. There are 25 other locales in the top 30 that we've yet to mention here, so head on down to the read link to see if your hometown made the cut. Oh, and way to represent, Raleigh -- numero fifteen ain't too shabby.

Wow, I'm surprised Pittsburgh actually made the list at number 24.
Then again, Comcast does have a pretty good footprint here, and is rolling out DOCSIS 3.0 in some of the better areas. I'm pretty sure the wifi hotspots were the only thing keeping us on that list though.
Can Forbes not just make a "List," I don't want to see fancy pictures and videos. I want a list, numbered 1 through 30 with a City on each line. Is that so hard? Lol.
You know, I was honestly just thinking the same thing... I'm like wtf, where is a straight plain view list.
I'm not sure I buy this. I live in downtown Seattle, I can't get decent digital TV and quite literally the best internet I can get is 7/1 DSL, for $50/mo. Wired?
How does what you get have anything to do worth this? Hey everyone Brad Pitt can't be the sexiest man alive because I think I am.
My town... is not in America.
Of course they're wired they drink so much damn coffee.
Seattle is Great!!!
i live about 40 minutes outside of seattle.. i think what i love about it the most is that it's the smallest big city i've yet encountered.. it's quite famous, yet it has a relatively small population, and as far as square mileage, it's not very large, so it has a quaintness about it. even if you get lost it's easy to find your way back to I-5.
anyways, glad to see my stomping grounds won the award :-D
they shouldn't count wifi connections if its the most wired city.
I'm just happy New York got on the list just under the 10th place.
Woooooooooooh Seattle FTW! I didnt think Seattle would win BUT they did!.. ( i live inSeattle =) so im very happy lol ) WE also have GOOGLE to! =)
I still don't have the new Comcast 29 HD stations that were promised at the beginning of January. Wired my ass!
How the hell is DC on there? We've got no city-wide WiFi, we've got no WiMAX, we've got no DOCSIS 3.0 cable internet (just standard crappy Comcast), we've got no FiOS.
you have to love seattle, it is a great city to live in, has tech companies everywhere, and honestly if there is a place I cannot find an open wifi signal, at least my clearwire express card will pick something up.... you can always be online here, and also don't forget speakeasy was trying out wimaxx here for a while too
Seattle Rocks !! Belltown is my Hood !!
Houston doesn't make the list? Man, that's sad. Made even more sad because Philly, Cleveland and Phoenix *are* on the list... >:-(
Where's my town, Engadget? Well, let's see... We have DSL from the lovely people at AT&T (6Mbps, lucky to get 5Mbps)... The service and the company (AT&T) is perhaps one of the WORST ISP's I have ever dealt with. They're nice on the phone and etc. but when it comes to quality - pure trash.
No Verizon FiOS, Time Warner Cable (I'd rather have 56k), and just plain old AT&T DSL... Not even Speakeasy ADSL2 is available here...
Where do I live? Some small town in the center of Montana?
Nope, Los Angeles California. Sunset Blvd. Beverly Hills. Hollywood baby... OK enough, VERIZON ---> please please please bring FiOS over here. I guarantee you hundreds of customers per day...
And AT&T --- you should be ASHAMED of yourselves for charging people for the bad DSL and hands down the WORST mobile service known to man...

Forbes isn't very accurate or up to date, since they list minneapolis as having only one option...
206 FTW
Is this Seattle city limits? Or county wide?
