Commodore 64 emulator brings retro joy to Symbian S60
Have a Symbian S60-based handset in your pocket, do you? If you've a fever that can only be cured by more Commodore 64, you're in luck. The FrodoS60 application brings C64 emulation right to your N95, N96 or any other S60 mobile, and the updated version (1.5) even includes accelerometer support. Head past the break for a quick look at how much joy this little app could bring to your life, and hit the read link if you're interested in getting in on it. Which you are, so stop denying it.

Wow, this looks like ASS...
ever hear of a little thing called the iPhone?...
accelerometer?
boy, I knew that NOKIAn was behind in the game... but darn it...
you guys still playing SNAKE?
1) The N95 had an accelerometer before the iPhone.
2) It looks like ass because it's a Commodore 64 game.
3) Your spark's missing. Seriously, you used to be quite annoying and now you're just a pale and empty imitation of yourself. What went wrong, man? Did it all get to much for you in the end?
Yeah, seriously man, I've noticed a marked decline in the quality and quantity of your trolling.
Are you ok?
eye eye is living proof why parents eat their young in the wild.
I used to low rank you every time, but since this comment is not as annoying as before, ill up rank you. I know how much you love your low opacity, and Im sorry, but maybe this is what you need to be yourself again.
I low ranked you, lolec, just for siding up with eye eye. Ever heard the saying "don't feed the troll"? (which I am doing right now, lol irony?)
This isn't the real iEye, he's just a cheap knockoff!
...He's probably full of lead.
eye eye types these comments from his living room which has been converted into an iPod museum just like Doug Rocket's laptop collection = Hilarious
Does the iPhone have a Commodore 64 emulator? No? I imagine if it would, it would be just as smooth and functional as the iPhone SNES emulator... oh wait.
We live and see... iPhoner poking at Nokia.
TardX, S60 has had SNES emulation years ago. I played Final Fantasy 4 on my ancient N70, and it worked great...
Video's gone.
Fantastic!
If they can get Track and Field on the 5800 using the touchscreen then I'm sold.
Track and Field with the accelerometer? :)
That sounds DANGEROUS!
No, it is not dangerous
BUT PRETTY DANGEROUS. :3
I remember i killed about 5 joystick with track&fiend and decathlon.
People will wonder what the hell you're doing frantically jerking your hand back and forth. Actually, they probably won't wonder at all...they'll incorrectly assume.
I still can't believe how people are able to program all these goodies, but can't get a singel in-focus shot of the miracles they accomplish.
I still can't believe that with so many online dictionaries, including those that are built right into modern web browsers, people can't seem to spell simple words like "single" correctly.
Dex, even though it's my own mistake I'm voting you up, because of your sense of humor.
Is it possible to vote down the comment system, since there still isn't an 'edit' option available?
I saw the opportunity to be a smartass and took it. For that I apologize. Hopefully for making you laugh....you're welcome! ;)
Why exactly is the link to a translated version of this page?!

Can I play split screen with my friend on one mobile phone?
Lol, boy.
Who really cares? Darren Murph obviously doesn't care. Nobody cares about S60 anymore. That's why the S60 developer scene is so stale at the moment. Mark my words, without some sort of a major revamp, S60 will be dead soon enough. Back in the day people were still interested in S60 because it had the best *hardware* on the market but now look, Nokia are being beaten at their own hardware game by Palm! LMAOINNAISE!
Bankai.
Nobody cares about S60? Tell that to the million 5800 XM owners or the people queuing up at 5am to buy one in the UK.
Who cares about you?
Yeah, that's right: nobody...
Hahaha Aaron, there aren't a million 5800 owners. There are a few shops who have had a million 5800s shipped to their warehouses. That's a bit different from a million owners, wouldn't you agree, boy?
Yeah, those people queing outside wanted tickets to a festival in spain, they probably gave the 5800 to a child or used it as a back up phone.
Besides, Aaron, even if there were a million 5800 owners (which there aren't, LOL @ you!) how many of them would have bought the 5800 because it's S60? Not many. Do you know what that means, boy? It means they care about the 5800 being cheap, not that it runs on S60.
Bankai. Howl! Zabimaru!!!!!
L, who cares about you? S60 obviously doesn't, otherwise it would have updated itself into 2006 atleast!
@ ILoveApple
Wow.....how old are you? Grow up.
You give even Apple fanboys a bad name!
I can play Hover Bovver & Skool Daze again? sweet
Bah, who needs this. I want a DOS emulator so i can play some classic PC games on my Nokia!
That might actually be possible. I'd say up to AT shouldn't be too hard to emulate on a cellphone. 386 might be pushing it but not sure, might work.
Leisuresuit Larry anybody?
You can get Scumm for s60 phones so you can play old Lucasart games like Day Of The Tentacle and Sam & Max
There is also C2Doom and the Quake games which are a bit more advanced than Scumm. But I'm sure they wouldn't run as well on a general purpose emulator. If i'm a bit realistic i'd like to be able to play some really old games from around 1990 like "Ski or die" or Lotus 3
I for one think this is pretty cool! I love the Commodore 64!
Are the load times the same as my 1541? The battery might run out before Archon loads.
I already have a Commodore 64 Emulator!
... Okay, so I just ripped the screen off of a broken laptop, but it vaugely looks like a '64!
So it's like i'm having a classic Nintendo in my cellphone ?
Cool--so cool.
no, it's like having a Commodore 64 in your phone.
Guh.
My C64 is still alive and kicking! Well at least the last time I fired it up years ago. Games on floppies still work too despite both sitting in two inches of water in my parents basement about 15 years ago. I used a hair dryer on them and everything still works! No desire to play on a cell phone however. Still, I respect those that do.
I just tried to run Wasteland with it, crapped out at the Util screen. SO CLOSE! Hopefully he keeps improving it. I'd love to play some Wasteland on the go...
Aww man, I could've tried this out when I had my old S60-based Nokia phones. Now, I have the Nokia 5800 and it won't be needing any of this. But it would've been cool though!
