NES Controller Varsity Jacket would be more awesome with awesome models
At first glance, we actually gagged upon seeing the jacket pictured above. Immediately after regaining our composure, we wondered how on Earth such a magnificent piece of retro kit could have such a negative impact on our lives -- then, it hit us. It's the dude. Seriously. Strap this $200, limited run jacket on anyone even remotely beautiful and we'd bet you too would see things differently. Or maybe it is just obscenely tacky, but it'd be much less so on anyone other than this fellow.

aw, what a cute crazed kidnappers face he has :(
Wow... what a horrible model, he has no hair
Awesome models? That's the target costumer modeling the jacket! Gamers who are greying, balding, etc with kids who are old enough to know what the hell a NES controller looks like and actually wants a jacket with the look on it in the first place.
Not going to blast the jacket model about his looks except for the hair. Why do dudes losing their hair cling to the remote possibility that their hairline will magically go unnoticed if they coiffe it up enough.
Dude... suck it up and delete the hair with a razor. Chicks dig it and you look harder.
Hey, that's my uncle!
I can't wait for the Intellivision version?
you would have to be a really nerdy white guy or a really cool black guy to pull that off.
While we're at it, let's make fun of his dying mother too!
Hey Guys,
This is Kevin from 80sTees. I want to thank engadget for putting up a link to our product even if it wasn't in the most flattering way possible. If I had known that having one of our employees model a jacket would lead to a link from Engadget I would have done it sooner.
I'm not going to apologize and now I'm definitely not hiring a model to reshoot this product since I don't want to ruin everyone's fun, but I will offer an explanation why we have a non professional model. Typically we sell t-shirts for $20 to $30. When we bought this jacket we had no idea if people would buy a $200 jacket when our next most expensive piece of clothing is a kick ass $120 Karate Kid Cobra Kai costume http://www.80stees.com/products/Authentic-Cobra-Kai-Gi.asp and then the next one after that is less than $100. Given that the economy isn't exactly conducive to spending $200 on anything we did not have high expectations.
So we bought a few jackets and had one of our employees model it (rather than pay the $100 or so it would cost us to shoot the product with a model and photographer) since it did not look good sans a person or mannequin to fill it out. Then last week we got got some press for the jacket (which is really cool since we didn't even ask for it) and now all of the sudden the pictures of our employee wearing a jacket are up all over the web.
At the very least I'm glad it gave some chuckles to your readers and even happier that it led to a link from a hugely popular site to our product.
it's odd, yet for some reason, this picture makes me have a flashback to Punch-Out!
