Speech bubble-shaped Speak-er on sale this year
Pardon us while we gush profusely, but this is easily one of the most amazing audio products we've ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on. The Speak-er, which honestly looks like something straight from the labs of Art Lebedev Studios, is quite simply a speech bubble-shaped speaker. It measures in at 4- x 6- x 2-inches and is constructed from polished white ABS with a matte black steel grille. We don't even know what kind of driver resides within, but we don't care. All we know is that this amazing piece of art will be on sale later this year for $120 per pair, and we can't wait to hear the words "now shipping."

I might just buy it. I look weird already, these won't hurt a bit my image.
If you buy this, you have to also buy this:

I was thinking about getting a pair, too. But really, they need more power and an exclamation mark subwoofer to go with it.
Um . . .
Aren't speech bubbles usually . . . white?
I'm just sayin'.
According to the specs, the housings hold 2" full range drivers with a ground pounding 6 watts.

it would be humorous if there were three led backlights that turned on whenever the speakers weren't in use.
"..."
Is it just me that thought the paragraph above was filled with sarcasm?!?
God I hope so.
I really do hope so.
Sad thing is it very probably wasn't.
It was written by Murph. Sarcasm's the only thing he knows.
"Can you hear me now?"
That looks pretty cool lol , I may buy it as well
test
looks fresh!
Say Whaa?
It looks like a broken speech bubble. They couldn't find a way to make it level?
It's for songs with crooked lyrics.
I know, it would be cool otherwise!
Granted, I'm the kind of guy who buys normal-looking, functional, quality speakers. But at least I could respect the whimsey of the speech bubble speaker if it was level.
Use a pun, visual or otherwise, and GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL.
Next step is the thought bubble speaker, which through telepathy announces what you're thinking to the entire room.
For $120 a pair, it better come with BOSE drivers ....
BOSE isn't that good...
LOL it will probably be better than bose-quality drivers
the internet will be the eventual demise of the bose corp... or maybe they'll stop using shitty ass paper cones eventually... nah.
This is definitely not Art Lebedev- if it was, the price would be $1,200 for a pair, not $120.
I can see Charles Schwab employees mocking their own advertisements in their cubicles with this thing...well, if they still exist then...
While I think the overall design is neat, in practice I can't think of any situation where I'd want my computer speakers to be this noticeable. It's the same reason I'm not a fan of the Mako speakers by Razer; they'd just stick out too much on my desk.
So, this is sarcasm? They could not possibly be serious.
Polished abs+$120 per pair+no idea of specs=destined to be another ipod accessory.
I'll buy it when they embed an LED display that displays the text of any words broadcast in an all caps comic sans font.
And when you thought the Peek phone team paid Engadget the most....
*in best keanu voice* Wow dude! Awesome!
If these babies come to Canada I'm sooooo buying them for the office!
There must be a mistake. I just read $120 and not $12 for these novelty speakers. :p
