Windows fanperson revs up "Release Windows 7 Now" campaign

It's no secret that the Windows 7 beta that's creeping about the world is generating a lot of excitement -- people want this OS, like, now. To that end, Kelly Poe of Nashville, Tennessee has started up a "Release Windows 7 Now" campaign to get Microsoft to move its behind a little faster. It hasn't gained that much steam yet -- as of this writing, he's only collected 153 votes -- but hey, you just never know, right? Right.

That's ridiculous yes the beta is impressive but there are still issues it takes time to properly perfect an OS for release. And even after the release there will still be issues. I'm in no rush to run Windows 7. Patiently awaiting actual release.

Tried it. Update did not work over my vista ultimate 32bit.
M$FT Support on the errors is 0/NULL.

I like that people are excited for Windows 7 (I am too), but I think what Kelly Poe's doing is slightly wrong. I don't think that he should make any attempt to rush Microsoft in releasing Windows 7 (not that they would necessarily). I mean Windows 7 Beta is "Great," certainly better that Vista, but it's not as good as it can be. If you rush Microsoft, they'll release Windows 7 early and it'll probably not be as good as it could be. Let them take their time to perfect (as best they can) the OS, so we'll have an OS that will trump XP and last, hopefully, longer than I think Vista will. No one really wants an incomplete OS, that could be more complete. Despite that, I really can't wait for freaking Windows 7 to release...lol. I will be patient though, take your time MS.

Both had MAJOR issues at release.

Both took SEVERAL updates to correct many of these issues.

the last OS that went to release and actually worked as advertised for all features was....
none.

Every microsoft product since xp has been a horrible disaster, what are you talking about. The only thing I have to give them props for is foldershare (now liveshare) and they probably just bought and rebranded that. They still cant even follow web standards with their damn browser.

Not to mention when i walk into staples and I see them selling a bundle of free software for $100 or selling some features that are built right into vista for $20.

For being one of the most powerful companies in the world, they sure dont have a very positive contribution or even original ideas lately.

And i've used windows 7 for a few weeks now and it is still win7 = XP + a skin + $300 + a few other free plugins you can already get for xp...

you obviously dont know what you are talking about. Win 7 is much superior to XP. Sure XP can do "a lot", but only after third party plugins and updates, while Win 7 can do it natively. I would rather have something that was designed to do something rather than modded to do it.

When I tested it, I found it had quite a lot of kinks to work out. Not only does Microsoft need time to finish it and make it better than Vista, but other companies need time to make their programs Windows 7 compatible. I am more than content with Vista now, so I can surely wait a year or more for a final version of Windows 7 to be released.

mm, it's great when it works, but it's been very buggy on my laptop.
I haven't had a great experience with windows 7, although I do use it full time, I can't hate on it cause apparently it's working great for everyone else. Hopefully my issues will be fixed with an update or when it gets released or when I get a new laptop. This one has bulges growing on it and can't keep its DVD tray shut T_T

I can't help but think that Microsoft has a new and, for them, unusual PR problem on their hands: They now have to make sure the hype doesn't get out of hand and people have unrealistically high expectations.

I agree. MS should release it sooner rather than later. Particularly if their currently released beta is feature complete. At the least it wouldn't hurt them to agree to keep updating their beta version it until the final release. It may cut down on the sales of stand-alone copies of Vista, but it may also help prevent people from moving to other platforms.
