LeapFrog announces educational, interactive Zippity

LeapFrog's just announced a new educational toy that's designed to get your wee one moving in front of the television. The Zippity (not to be confused with the Grippity) is for pre-school-aged (three to five years old) kiddies, with an interactive mat that incorporates running, jumping and dancing, plus a huge joystick for leaning (and learning left, right, back and front). The system's got 8 different on-board features which help children learn math, problem-solving, music and phonics. Designed with Disney, Zippity features animations of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse, and Handy Manny, amongst others. The Zippity is going on sale this summer for $79.99, plus $24.99 for the software. Check the video of it in action after the break. (Note that the demo model in the video is adult-sized!)

How many grown adults (that are geeks not parents) actually give a sh** about kids toys? Even if they are kinda cool like the Leapfrog ones are. But two posts from Leapfrog?? I stopped caring.
Sorry Engadget.
Nobody is forcing you to read them...and they definitely arent making you comment.
It's a blog. They really don't have to give a sh*t about if you give a sh*t about it or not. Even if you don't have kids, this is still cool tech even though most people aren't going to go buy it. Unless of course you're trying to entice little children into your apartment/mom's basement. Some readers might be and this is here for them.
Seriously though, I think it's cool and I like at it like...man where was this crap when I was a kid. And then I think about the NES and decide that my childhood was just fine without this.
Lighten up! You wasted more time from your "too busy to read about kids junk" life by commenting on it. There is a reason they invented the headline and made it nice and big for ya to get the gist of things.
Grr..."look at it like" even -.-
I care.
Laura,
please, something else. Thanks
@Aarun
As a geek and parent of two young kids, I wouldn't otherwise know about these types of gadgets if Engadget didn't write about them. So I appreciate the post and don't understand why you couldn't take 2 seconds to scroll past it and instead had to waste an additional 2 minutes to complain.
YESSSS.....something more to make my nieces and nephews more hyper and energetic....*orders more Prozac*
Technically, its a new console. I'd say that merits a mention here.
Wait, is that a red Mickey Mouse on the joystick? Is Leapfrog Affiliated with Disney now?
I was interested in this for my godchild but that game she demoed looked kinda week, and it only used one button. Hope there is more to the software if they are charging you $25 for it on the side.
hmmm interesting
It was a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. You see, it would be this mat that you would put on the floor... and would have different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.
silly
doo dah
Gadget is ok but I wish the video guy stand behind the girl and show the tv... that guy have very limited communication skills.
Laura,
Please, something else. Thanks
For a minute there I thought she was a midget or a leprecon Haha!
LeapFrog is the new iPhone................... to Engadget apparently.
Where's the guy with the pedobear ANSII art? It's probably better deserved in this situation.
Looks like a Segway trainer for kids.
As the father of a four year old that I have to drag away from my computer... I'm in two minds. I think it's a neat idea in principle, but I don't know about paying $100 (h/w plus s/w) for something he's going to outgrow in less than a year. Maybe, just maybe, if he was only 3 and I might go for it...
