Caption Contest: Best Buy FTW

A Twitterer documents the demise of one big box via the burn of another.
Tim: "And thus the 2009 FatWallet suicide craze began."
Josh F: "First!"
Joe: "Yeah, but what about the Palm store?"
Laura: "So, you're telling me I have to pay full price for this copy of Final Destination IV? FINE."
Richard: "...And we finally have proof you never actually shopped there anyway."
Paul: "We've also stopped matching Buy More prices ever since that silly 3D episode."
Jacob: "...And we're therefore rebranding to Kinda the Best Buy.'"
Ross: "For $100, the Geek Squad has offered to read these aloud to you. For an extra $50, they'll stop themselves from giggling through the word 'unfortunate.'"
Nilay: "Also, it's okay to start liking 'Just What I Needed' again."
Sean: "We will, however, attempt to make the Circuit City faithful feel right at home with some new bait and switch tactics of our own."
Don: "Circuit City employees will be hired based on their technical knowledge, communication skills, and rapping ability."
[Thanks, Adam]

| Circuit City fails to be wanted, will now be liquidated Even Circuit City's CEO admitted that liquidation was a very real possibility if a sale of the company didn't occur by January 16th, and needless to say, time's up. |
Circuit City closings begin, lines form, bargains await If you were waiting to get some fliers in the mail announcing the beginning of clearances at your local Circuit City, we're sorry to report you've probably already missed the best deals. |

| RIP, CompUSA: 1984 - 2008 Days after we first reported that CompUSA could be shutting down for good very, very soon, everybody is reporting that the beleaguered big box retailer has been sold to Gordon Brothers Group for liquidation. |
Best Buy snaps up 17 CompUSA leases Apparently, not only is CompUSA rising from the dead like a horrific, zombified corpse, but now its guts are getting bought up and replaced by another retail behemoth. |

| Circuit City's Black Friday deals leak, no word on if it'll be open to sell things Okay, so maybe Circuit City only formally closed 155 of its retail locations, but let's put it this way -- if we're up at 3:00AM and looking at which store to camp in front of, we're picking the one that, um, isn't bankrupt. |
Best Buy's "doorbuster" Black Friday deals probably won't result in the literal busting of doors We apologize for the cloying headline, but just wanted to point out to Best Buy that the whole point of insane deals and "doorbuster" savings is, well, those things. |

"We will now be selling HDMI cables for the price of a luxury car, oh wait, we already do"
Someone would have to be an idiot to pay >$40 for an HDMI cable. The reason people still buy retail and not online is instant gratification. Why pay $11 after shipping and get it in a few days when you can pay $40 and get it NOW?! It is ridiculously hard not to drop the money when you have a big new tv and a shiny new components laying around.
You know Walmart will match anyone's prices!
"but on the bright side, we are now price matching ebay... SIKE!"
Kind of ironic isn't it? You complain about being bugged while you are browsing, but I bet you bitch when you decide to come into a store on a Sunday afternoon while it's very busy because you can't get help to find the DVD you couldn't find because you didn't realize they were organized by genre and alphabetized.
It's also funny how people point out the fine print on the receipt when it is in their favor, but when it isn't they expect the store to bend the rules.
Hypocrisy at it's best right there people.
"Wow, I bet their prices are cheaper, I'm out of here!"
But we will match their incredulous indignation- or beat them in scrabble. Which ever comes first.
at least they r lookin in future befor they get bankrupt.:)
this pretty much sums up the circuit city situation:

Does this include the $300 Monster HDMI cable?
Best Buy? The guys who owed me a hundred dollar rebate for like seven years now and has giant advertised sales when they have only three of the items actually at each store? Oh please. If we didn't have a local Staples store (and they don't have a restocking fee btw) I wouldn't have anywhere to buy electronics. Music and movies I get at Wally-Mart.
I wanted to buy a home theater in a box. Went to Beast Buy to research. The sales associate said" I don't know anything about them, no one here does. You will just have to read the box." Thank God for internet sales.
WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND
I'm not a big BB fan but Circuit City should be glad anybody even mentions their name anymore. CC slit their own throats, why should BB even care?
Screw Best Buy. Biggest douchebags around. High prices, rude employees, bullshit tactics.....fuck off Best Buy you're next bitches!!!
I had nothing but problems with Best Buy before Circuit City ever made their going out of business announcement. They have a BIG tendency to wait on males over females for one thing. They don't seem to care if they have adequately assisted you at all. I had one of their VISA cards. I never did activate it. But one day I walked into the Best Buy store near me and dumped my shredded VISA card on the manager's desk. They never even flinched. They never got back to me. They simply don't care! I haven't been back since! It's too bad that it had to be Circuit City that went out of business because they always seemed to have the customer service when I entered the store!
I'm glad people think it's a joke that thousands of people are losing their jobs. One of them happens to be me. I love my job, and I was working my way through college with the help of a great, flexible manager. People are rediculous to be laughing at our fate. I wonder how they'll feel when they can't feed their children or pay their mortgage.
Best Buy sucks...it will become the next Circuit City...
One store to rule them all or as best buy would say I got 99 problems but circut city aint one!
