LG Arena KM900 gets further detailed

We've already gotten a pretty good look at LG's curiously familiar Arena KM900 phone, and we're now starting to get some more details as well, although LG is still managing to keep a few things under wraps for the presumably imminent announcement. Apparently, this one will boast GSM/UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, along with a high-res 3-inch 800x480 display (no word on resistive or capacitive), and some form of mobile TV, although specifics on that are a bit light at the moment. The phone also apparently measures just 11.5mm thick, which makes it a smidgen slimmer than the iPhone and, as we had heard before, it could be out in Europe as soon as next month -- on T-Mobile Germany for starters, it seems.

does every phone have to look like the iphone??
No. And as you can see from all of the phones that are available 99.9% of them dont.
However 100% of them do have a slight resemblance to the LG Prada.
looks like another copy/paste job to me
granted, the iPhone can't copy and paste but other phone companies and their phones can.
oviously not done using an iphone
Yes, because I want an iPhone, but I don't want to pay the high price of AT&T... Too bad the unlocked iPhone 3G won't work with T-Mobile 3G...
That's exactly what i have been saying for the last year, i know the iphone is cool and everything but damn they're even making cakes & candy that look like it, and this latest phone from LG is just sad to look at.
Every phone doesn't look like the iphone...but every other phone does live in its shadow
The iPhone looks like the LG KE850 which by the way predated the iPhone and won the International Forum Design Product Design Award for 2007.

So what you're saying is LG invinted a device which Apple copied, perfected and now dominates the cellular market with, while LG is making crappy lookalikes to catch up with it?
Well I guess apple is hitting goals !
This is just LG getting some payback for the whole Prada vs iphone thing
April 1st 2009 somewhere in Germany....
"Aww sweetie, that's so nice of you to get me an iPhone!"
"No baby, that's an LG arena! you've just been T-PUNKT!"
rate me down, it looks like an iphone
did it come from a street vendor in china?
That was already posted 100000 times in the last thread about this.
So now that all of you have gotten it off your chest, either buy it as it is or not.
yes, absolutely, no other country in this planet can make this kind stuff.
ok, i ranked you down.
...and the iPhone looks like the Prada phone - which came out prior to the iPhone. just like Look_Around_You stated.
Again, the iPhone looks like the LG KE850 which by the way predated the iPhone and won the International Forum Design Product Design Award for 2007.
Please see the article from yesterday, there are plenty of thoughts there regarding the striking resemblance to the iPhone.
If apple is right than this phone is superior to the iphone. Why ? It is thinner, of course!
The new slogan for the Arena- "The worlds thinnest iphone is not an iphone...."
didnt know it was mentioned and talked about numerous timess..my bizzel!
dude... by bizzel! did you mean by beezie (or beezy or beezee) by beezie did you mean my bad?
damn.
ohh jew kno wha im tawkin boutt
How I wish I could realistically hope for a CDMA version to show up on Verizon in the U.S. Maybe I'll finally get it once I get my unicorn ranch up and running.
yeah it is familiar, looks like the original of its kind
the prada.
i love how companies dont understand that it is not the way the phone LOOKS that is going to get it sold to millions upon millions.
sad.
It looks good.
Yes. I agree
This looks great.
Dear Verizon,
You turned down the chance to get the Iphone and I'm sure you're not kicking yourself for that. But now you have another chance at a "great" phone. If you were to get it and not change it in any way, (no you can't change the look of the phone or the UI) I wouldn't mind staying on board. Because if you don't get a good phone soon, I see myself....dare I say it...using an Iphone in the future. It wouldn't be your fault at all, its all mine. You see I like the ability to put on my phone what ever I want since I'm paying for it.
Love,
A-person-whos-contract-is-almost-over
Hmm...the app icons instantly make me think of the iphone, but the battery % and reception indicators make of think of a nokia. Go figure...
OMG, these guys have no shame at all. At least Palm got it right.
agreed. Palm ftw.
I can't wait till the Pre's Open GL ES 2.0 support starts kicking in.
According to the poster in the previous post about this phone, the country is the Netherlands...
the screen is a capacitive touchscreen.
BR
oh god not again (talking about the comments not the phone)...
I've been okay with other touchscreens so far and their resemblance to the iPhone but this is too far. This looks just like the iPhone and the software is almost identical. This is truly pathetic.
The software is almost identical? You based that on one screenshot of the main page?
You have a truly remarkable gift. I bow to you, sir.
yar another low quality LG phone. I prefered it when they made washers and dryers....hell they made my kitchen look brand new with that fridge they made for me.....
think about this, i wonder if back in the day people used to say "oh that looks like my motorola flip phone, what a joke, what a copy cat, nah nah nah boo hooo " You iPhoners are ridiculous.
I too am offended by LG's blatant ripoff of the iPhone. How dare they make there phone rectangular with a screen. Don't they know the iPhone pioneered this unique hardware configuration? And what's with everything being arranged in a straightforward "grid," just like the iPhone? Don't they know there are more logical, and less Apple-like methods of arranging the home screen... some type of fractal geometry, or possibly a honeycomb come to mind as imminently more sensible options. I also can't believe they had the nerve to have little pictures represent the different functions (or "applications" if you prefer) of the phone. Of course, Apple invented these little iconic pictures as well (maybe we can call them "iconics" for short).
/sarcasm
Plus, they had to audacity to launch an iPhone clone (the Prada) BEFORE the iPhone itself!
blablabla.
We're not talking about the all-touchscreen rectangular phone. I guess it's PRETTY OBVIOUS what everyone's beef with this phone is. Clue: You can see it in the picture.
I usually hate seeing people scream OMG IPHONE CLONE!!!...but take a look at the calendar icon and photo library icon. Maybe not a pixel to pixel exact copy, but come on, it's clearly at least ripping off the colors and subjects of the icons.
So LG makes cases for the iPhone now? Cool! I like the silver protective shell that......oh wait.......
Before i really looked at the picture i thought it was the iphone.....
Is that an iPhone?
call me crazy, but i honestly thought that was an iphone in some weird case.
Lg is into hardware and will just drop more hardware. And as for the 8 mega pix camera, it don't mean shit without the right optics.
And why with all the Apple hating? See I told some sucker a while back, the industry copies Apple and the competitors do nothing but fight it out amongst themselves. And in the end, you're gong to have a shit load of dead warrior swag all over the the place.
And stop bitching about the iphone battery cause yall don't keep a phone long enough to bitch about it not being able to hard a charge.
Boo-ya!
I'm sorry but if this was some Chinese vendor this phone would be in the KIRF section.
Luke
Well, since the first picture that leaked the phone was taken from a dutch advertisment from a telecom retailer, it will probably be introduced in the Netherlands next month as well (advertisment said March). I hope the interface will be based on the embedded version of Adobe Flash, just like the Viewty. They should speed it up a little though.
