One of Acer's mystery smartphones exposed, doesn't look so smart
Acer has a flamenco-themed party in store for Mobile World Congress attendees, pledging to finally unveil its oft-delayed line of smartphone debutantes amidst a flurry of stomping feet and clapping hands. Unfortunately for the proud parent it seems one randy model just couldn't keep quiet until then, caught in the wild by Mr. Blurrycam with its QWERTY showing. No details are known beyond its rather chunky look when the keyboard is positioned like this, but we'll surely have all the details for you in about two weeks -- after politely excusing ourselves from the dance floor, of course.

Not impressed......though if ENGADGET can get leaks of what Nokia has in store for us at the upcoming MWC.......that would be WOW......but u guys could not even do it with the N97 :)
lol, that has to be two different phones/ pictures...
Yeah it does look like two different things.
I know how the "Mr. Blurrycam" gag is rather loved on this site, but this is just too awful of a picture to make any conclusions about what this is and what it does. Let alone trying to make comments of it being "ugly" or "bulky".
All in all, a "smart" post by a "smart" editor.
I for one welcome our 5-row keyboarded overlords. At last, a device to replace the imate Jasjar*/XDA Exec?
*jasjar, not jamjar. Certainly not a jamjar with two warm livers in it.
I agree with you. looks like an XDA Exec killer (HTC Universal).
It is windows mobile too because it has an "ok" button. that's unfortunate.
Ugly, and bulky as it looks, the size of the keyboard might actually make this a gem to use..
I used to have an XDA Exec, since then i've been through dumphones, touch screen smarts and recently an iphone 3g..
The XDA Exec was by far the easiest, and quickest to type on. Shame i sat on it and boke the screen tho...
:)
michael: likewise...i've had other WM devices, iphone 2g and now currently a G1 but I still use my XDA-Exec. It's one of the best bricks you could carry. It just needs 800x480, GPS, dual screens & android ;)
The HTC Touch Pro has a 5 row keyboard...
Can the "ACER" word be bigger and whiter, please?
How exactly does that hinge work? It looks like the keyboard is detachable.
Reminds me of the HTC Advantage (Athena). Its keyboard is 5-row, although the top row is mostly useless function keys, and its detachable too.
Hmm.. Acer is flipping me the bird..
,,!,, to you too Acer
By having the name Acer, we already see that the mobile isn't smart at all...
Waitaminute!!! is it a virtual keyboard??? With just a tiny bit of screen left at the top??
It doesn't look good like the iPhone, which makes this an instant fail.
This totally looks like 2 phones attached. But it also looks like that patent Engadget showed a while back. (Too lazy to look for it though)
Meh, not impressed.
It looks like a touchscreen smartphone, with a dock that doubles as a keyboard.
i dont kno...this thing could slide up then flip, would be a hell of a setup if this was true but never kno, we see some weird ass shit, i dont like it thou, not the landscape setup
