Microsoft confirms MyPhone, invite-only beta coming to MWC
Remember that alleged Microsoft MyPhone beta page that popped up on getskybox.com yesterday? It's back up now and being hosted under the company's official domain, with everything apparently intact except that tantalizing "Sign In" button. According to a statement from the gang at Redmond, a limited invite-only beta is in the cards, and more details on the syncing service formerly known as SkyBox are coming to Mobile World Congress later this month. As for the beta itself, the wording's a bit ambiguous here -- will we just be getting new details on the trial or will the signup actually launch then? Looks like we'll find out for sure in just over a week.

oh pleeeeease with all the bullshit already MS vs Appple vs Palm vs whoever, who gives a daamn. My pc is windows, my ipod is apple(duh) and my next phone will likely be the Palm Pre (Sprint has the cheapest plans and that phone seems like it will be very cool). I used to love my ps2 more than xbox but i love my 360 more than my ps3 and wii. So why do people take sides on which company's shit is better, are they gonna give YOU any money for hyping up their products??
-all your personal data now available FREE to Microsoft!
Many Google(Mainly google) and Apple fanboys have been doing the same thing with their personal data so why are you talking crap about this service?
SAY WHAT?! I don't speak illogical. Here is a picture of a bird:

Verizon won't be pleased with this..there will be less people needing to pay $15 more for data, just to use their wireless sync.
As expected from Miscreantsoft the biggest "me too" company on the planet. It's in their DNA to be a me too company. With the millions of dollars saved by relying on Apple for their R&D, MS should not lay off those hard workers. Retain them and pass the savings reaped from copying Apple to your employees.
I don't see Apple doing what is listed in "My Phone" with the iPhone. Hell, it isn't even "MyPhone" there is a space, so you can't try to claim they copied that from Apple either. Legitimate step over what Apple has done.
Well, considering MobileMe is called "Exchange for the rest of us" that means MobileMe is based on Microsoft Exchange..... So, looks like Apple copied Microsoft first.
Secondly, it always amuses me when people will bash a microsoft product. Because it doesn't do what another product does, then when MS does incorperate those features, they are copycats, even if they add more features.
I dunno about you guys, but syncing with the internet didn't get my attention much. Risky stuff. I'm well enough having my data on my computer only. Regardless of how secured they (and "clouds") claim to be, a computer not connected to the internet is the safest way...
iPhone, MyPhone, SelfPhone...
copying google sync google needs to sue there ass
First of all synching is nothing new and second i could think of a few companies that by your judgement should sue google´s ass for compying their synching technology.
I think the developers of Microsoft Exchange server would have something to say a out that.
Really....what an original name!
Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life.
Microsoft sucks balls!
So, this is Microsofts answer to MobileMe?
If it's free, sign me up!
MyPhone? Soft of like from the Simpsons...

Sounds okay in theory but the fact that it's not designed to run on Windows Live, only alongside it at best, puts me off the idea completely. I've been trying to get into Microsoft's web services as much as possible to keep my data available at all times and it's worked well in parts, but when they offer Mesh/Live Sync/Skydrive seperately then give you the choice of Windows Live/Exchange/My Phone for my phone, I can't help but feel they're competing only with themselves.
Isn't this exactly what the Dashwire service already provides?

The latest pictures of Windows Mobile 6.5 show something called Outlook Live. So... that means My Phone, Windows Live and Outlook Live - 3 services which all essentially do the same thing? I'm hoping that Outlook Live is a subset of Windows Live mobile and amalgamates contacts, push email and calendaring.
