LG Arena KM900 hangs onto limelight, reveals multitouch capabilities
At this rate, LG isn't gonna have any secrets left about the Arena KM900 when it takes the stage for its Mobile World Congress press conference on Monday. The company's released a few more snippets via its Korean site, chief among them being multitouch capabilities for image and web page zooming. Other details include a dedicated multimedia chip and designations for each of the four sides of the interface's 3D cube: phone, widgets, shortcuts, and multimedia. One of our favorite lines, which is almost certainly made funnier by the machine translation, is that this UI is the culmination of 100 years of interface research. We'll have more on the KM900 -- assuming they don't reveal everything before then -- next week in Barcelona.

WOW!! This phone looks awsome and it's coming to T-Mobile
wow. interesting to think they've been working on this interface since the ford model-t!
HA!
You can get this phone in any color you want...as long as its black, LOL
But thats probably true too, LOL
I've seen another source stating that they've spent 100 man-years doing the UI - that makes a lot more sense I guess...
What they mean is that they've stolen 100 years worth of Interface research from numerous companies!
What is with everyone always trying to put down a phone because its not the "iPhone killer". The funny thing is all these people probably hyping up the iPhone wouldn't know a technologically superior phone it it was bashed into their cranium, LOL.
But anywho. This phone looks very good for a "dumbphone". The cube interface is nice...although like every phone...I need a physical keyboard =( Just cant help it, LOL
adding "LOL" doesnt make your comments any funnier. just annoys me.
Uh...ok??? And my life continued....
=/
They should work on a "lg" Android skin and ship that instead of this 100 year old in the oven os.
we are Borg
Welcome to Engadget. His name is iEye. Ignore him.
somebody's been awefully bizzy, just bout everything he spews out in his native 12 year old dialect gets deleated.
Hmmm... very very interesting phone. But the catch seems to be the relative lack of 3rd party apps.
Looks like Palm has no reasons to worry about patent-wars, and the Google was too scared with the G1.
Yeah, I've seen my fair share of him. Just surprises me the fanboyism shown these days, LOL. iPhone is nothing but a mediocre phone (tech wise) with the best UI experience. I cant admit that much.
Haha, the original article actually says that the "S-Class UI" is a culmination of a year of research by User Interface team, which consists of "100" people.
Never understood the point of keeping a phone under wraps so close to the release date. If you don't plan n making major changes, just let the press to wild with the specs and you'll get some free advertising from the speculation.
By leaking information bit by bit, they keep you talking about the phone, until you want it so much you have to have it when it's released.
Did I hear multitouch? I guess Apple better hire more people because it will continue to have lots of people to pick a legal fight with sooner than expected
**sigh..... you ever read engadget?
-- Apple doesnt have a blanket patent on Multitouch - now run along and go hump your iPhone
3D cube is the best they could come up after a 100-year thinking? LG suxx...
There's plenty of "interfaces" walking around Manhattan that look about 100 years old.
yet another legal case for Apple to win!
Yes, because Apple have a long and illustrious history of winning their legal battles...
Not exactly a 3D cube though is it? Where are the cube's other two faces, eh?
Pffff... Another nearly duplicate handset based on THE original from the well-known fruit-named company. How ordinary! The substance is there, but the soul has been removed. I say "Take them to court, right now."
SPINNAN CUBES
What's it running, Linux Goldstar?
