iriver's Wave-Home WiFi VoIP appliance launches on KT Telecom
While Verizon gets its Hub, lucky KT Telecom subscribers in Korea now have access to iriver's Wave-Home. The kits sells for 297,000 Korean Won or about $210 and features a WiFi VoIP handset in addition to that larger 7-inch display with 1.3 megapixel camera for video conferencing, surfing the web, checking your calendar and so on. You've gotta hand it to iriver, they reveal the initial UNIT2-S concept at a European trade show in August, refine it in Las Vegas for CES in January, and then launch it back home a month later. Now that's style.

PoE on this would be pretty cool. =)
(can you tell I'm lazy with my cabling?)
I'll take both,Wave-home and the girl
Wow, I'm surprised, usually there's at least over 9000 negative comments on every article, nice to see some positive ones for a change.
On a side-note, I love how they market things in Asian countries.
Sex sells
I agree to the marketing thing: It's high time people started wearing Victorian era clothing again. Nothing sells high tech like old fashioned clothing. Long live ruffles & pleats!
That phone is BALLER! would like that for my home voip setup.
Man, I'll take 2 of each, her personal telephone number, address, and her.
nice
I hope so much to be able to take home this thing.
I have wanted it since the first time I glimpsed an article about it.
If telecoms want to halt the hemorragy of landline subscriptions this is the way to go.
And what do you think about the iriver Wave-Home?
Beautiful ...She is.
She looks like ahjuma to me
Bah.. not as beautiful as some of the other Korean models.
How not to sell your product:
- Have your model wear a long-sleeve turtleneck
Yeah, I think I saw that outfit in Gone With The Wind.
I know what I want from Korea and it isn't some damn handset.
Korean companies sure know how to display electronic goods.
hey bob, would you?
Verizon's stuck with that "thing" and no one to sell it while Korea gets a much nicer-looking and more functional model with...a model selling it. *Sigh*...
Not a fan of Verizon's Hub as I really don't see the utility of the device. While I'm sure iriver has done the proper market analysis to ensure there is some demand for this device, if it parallel's Verizon's Hub then I don't know...(Then again maybe Korean demand dynamics are significantly different to US consumers, though I doubt it).
Sidenote....While I do think the lovely Asian lady pictured with the device is attractive, why is it on Engadget everyone flocks to the hot Asian chicks while people seem to rarely discuss other European beauties who sometimes are featured with tech gadgets?
WiFi VoIP handset. You know this is better than any magic jack out there.
peace!
where can i get those picture frames behind her.
I need to get her name and # so I can propose to her. She is breathtaking!
Awhile back I saw a guy doing standup on Comedy Central(forgot who it was, but he was Asian himself) and he was talking about beautiful Asian women, and one of the things he said was :
"..If you're an Asian woman, you're hot. If you're an Asian guy, you're tech support."
