Sony Ericsson exec dismisses rumors of a schism
Despite some nasty financial losses and a rumored smackdown of a PSP phone proposal, the Sony Ericsson joint venture is apparently as strong as ever. That's what Senior Marketing Manager Richard Dorman is saying, denying any talks of a split. He also noted that both companies had been losing money in their respective handset division prior to the assimilation, and the partnership is "full steam ahead." That's great, now how about showing us some more Hikaru, hm?

How about they produce less phones per year and focus all the power in creating smashing design and technology? This way they save a ton of money, satisfy the customer and enforce their image.
how about creating the "iphonekiller" thats what everyone really wants to see no more weak walkmans,please.....
They will, they will slow down their production due to the recession.
But for focusing on making a really good one for consumers..
I'm not sure. ..
Their products are all the same.
ooOOooh, we're all so enfuriated and offended
I can't understand you Engadget! Yesterday I made a witty comment about some article but that comment got immediately deleted, and I understand why, but people like this boy right here do not get their comments deleted nor banned!
I know the pieces fit, 'cause I watch them fall away

Look at all those threads
Saad, its because Engadget loves iEye and Apple. All the articles on Engadget are bias towards Apple. This is nothing new.
My theory is that trolls like iEye and Clak are actually Engadget posters in disguise who's sole purpose is to generate more comments...
1. Bait people into commenting on posts by trolling on your own board.
2. Get more clicks, increasing ad revenue.
3. Profit!
/takes off tin foil hat.
Ok tell me when it sells zero to 1 million in 72 hours. Then well talk in meantime it's a fail. Success is based on sales, ask any CEO they will agree with me. Add this to list of failed iphonekillers, remember every iphonekiller has had more features n better specs, that's not enough to dethrone the revolutionary. I have spoken n silenced.

There are plenty of phones out that are better than the iphone...touchHD anyone?
Touch HD is just a Sony Ericsson X1 with a larger size screen, no keyboard, same WiMo, and TouchFlo which is like "putting lipstick on a pig". The pig being WiMo.
So no thank you, you can keep your TouchHD BS
I can say this much. The day a phone comes out that clearly beats/kills the iphone, I'm switching away from the iphone 3g. I have no loyalty to apple or att,no loyalty to any brand or carrier. My loyalty is to best touchscreen phone, period.
1. less phone models
2. more features per phone
3. more up-to-date features,
4. learn to design phones from the Japanese market
5. better hardware
...Point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over.
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication...
One of my, if not my #1, favorite Tool song ever.
"full steam ahead"? Not what I've heard from my source.
Thats because your source said "Son, move out of the basement" and is your mom. Quit the cloak and dagger stuff, and stick to the facts. Sony has some great innovations in place, but isnt likely to bust out an iphone killer anytime soon. At least Im not holding my breath.
@Woot: Sony has some great innovations in place, but isnt likely to bust out an iphone killer anytime soon.
The problem is that Sony generally fusses for too long time on how to protect their "innovations" and rip off consumers best. By the time they are on market already, what ever was "innovation" is already common place.
SE is actually now in crisis too. Both Sony and Ericsson stagnated for quite some time. Yet they managed to nab some fresh blood. But I heard committee decision making, careerism and traditional conservative Jap/Swedish (not-my-)business methods are taking over there too.
But mind you, SE is actually still managing healthy growth compared to its both ancestors.
1. make a psphone
2. make it open source
2. ???
3. profit
simple as that .
That cracked logo looks pretty good actually.
WM on the Xperia, that should be a warning to all that something has gone wrong.
OOh I miss /// Ericssonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The money well is drying up and the mothership Sony will not invest more as they have no money. Ericsson does not need a mobile handset as much as Sony. Sony has been trying for years to get the ubiquitous mobile device, but did not have the GSM technological experience.
Now they do.
Expect to see a PSP with telephone capabilities at the same time SE starts to die from a boring 2009 line up with more of the same, i.e. Cybershot and Walkman
Yes! Ericsson! Bring back cool but nerdy phones like the T28!
Sony ruined Ericsson. I say split them up, and let's have the Ericsson build quality back again.
NOOOOOO, Ericsson ruined SONY
Because Sony is a big company and Ericsson is a shit Swedish looser !!
This could all be fixed in a few simple steps:
Phase 1 - Collect underpants
Phase 2 -
Phase 3 - Profit!
This is like trying to deny that there are cracks in Galactica's inner structural supports!
