Helio's Ocean 2 now on sale: $149 on contract
We were told that today would be the day, and sure enough, today is the day. Today is also the day in which Helio's Ocean 2 becomes available, as evidenced by the image above and the completely active "Buy" button tucked away in the read link. It'll run users a buck forty-nine on contract if you're a new subscriber or $400 without, and it just might make all of your dreams come true. If you're curious, you can see if it satisfied our every fantasy right here.

dont be a dick. its a cool phone
What exactly makes this phone a "Social Networking Powerhouse"?
I mean it is a cute phone, but powerhouse?
Here we go again with the damn iphone comparisons...
See what I mean
Paul Ass Chapel = douche-bag award winner, since you're butt-buddy ieye aint around.
it's iEye or a very pathetic wanna-be
a serious flaw, in that engadget remarks are not moderated
looks like this place has turned into a magnet for creepy trolls
it may be a good phone, but at that handset and service cost serv, now way! No thanks.
?
Wouldn't an iPhone or G1 be better since they're only 50 more?
Possibly, depending what feature set you are looking at, there are so many phones out there. The problem is people buy phones for certain reasons (feautres/ price) and then end up comparing them to other phones from a different category. It helps to do some research before buying a phone :)
reposting, my comment seems to have dissappeared suddenly!

Phones are so, phoney.
can anyone say FAIL * 2 ???
DON'T CALL IT A PHONE, DAMMIT!
Really? 2009 and you roll out a non-touch screen phone with a sub 3" QVGA screen? Really? And you want 150$ after contract ? Really?
You've gotta wonder who is going to buy this... This think needs to be free with contract...
This phone is garbage, but to those of you complaining about lack of touch screen... you don't need one for a phone to rock.. check out blackberry's 8900 or 9000
New game--downrank chapel's posts!
Its really fun actually. I had a great time on the MS store one.
But seriously, the Helio is really a nice piece. With many companies (including Apple) spinning off bland touchscreen hunks, Helio really has some unique style.
Thanks, Engadget, for getting rid of Paul Chapel!!
As a Helio customer, I'm glad to see the Ocean 2 finally released - even though it's not the high-water mark the original Ocean was. The extra couple hours of cheap talking time every night is also a nice treat. I can't wait to see what phones the future holds for Helio.
