LG's flagship KM900 S-Class UI caught on video
Are you the type who falls deaf in the presence of the latest gadget? Add a girl and your mouth falls agape from the loss the muscle control required to speak? Good, we've got the video for you. A site in Sweden is showing off LG's new Arena KM900 flagship phone along with a first peep at its dynamic 3D S-Class UI. While we're not seeing any of that promised multi-touch here, the cubic interface is interesting and makes good use of the KM900's 3-inch, 800 x 480 pixel WVGA display and dedicated media chip. It's also expected to hit in April for 4,500 Swedish Krona or $535 US if our translation of that image (lower-left) is correct. Worth it? Hit the read link for the video (in Swedish) and let us know.

I think something's wrong with me. I heard "iPhone" and "Nokia Comes with Music" in that video. Didn't understand anything else.
The UI looks fast and totally impossible to use.
LG is doing a great job, making better phones every day (LG Secret is a really nice thing and what I liked the best was build quality - very solid, even though it is a slider). I really hope this thing gets less expensive in a short while and I get a normal 2D UI.
Very promising, but seems overworked.
Agreed. Way too busy.
Yeah...can't these people make any simple UIs? Look at UIQ, Symbian, iPhone. Why are they so successful...ease of use and simple design is what makes them tick.
3D, TouchFlo, TouchWiz, Xperia panels - all of them are complicated and make the phone way slower.
@ John Doe ...
You think Touch Flo is difficult? Wow.
LG has, by far, some of the cheapest handsets with good builds and complete features. Too bad they are in the shadow of Samsung. Their OS is unlike many others' as well.
As for the video.... I would have preferred a pretty girl in it. the 3D menu thing is marvelous. Very smooth interface. I just hope we don't get any more of the stupidity found in accessing Viewty's microSD.
Uhh niceness!
And a nice touch with the whole Swedish feel of it all! ;)
"S-class"? WTF is that supposed to mean?
Come on, Engadget.
Er, that's what it's called.

Thomas, I totally am with your side on this one, the guy didn't know about it. lol
But, don't you think it is a little unnecessary to sign your comment when your name is two lines above what you wrote?

That link was to a PR blurb from the manufacturer, using the same made-up term. Meaningless.
Ever read the back of a TDK or Maxell tape box? Every other word was a made-up, proprietary "technology" name, followed by an abbreviation (despite the fact that it was never subsequently used in the text). Totally non-informative.
If "S-class" were some kind of industry-wide term like OpenGL ES, then it would be telling the reader something. But regurgitating internal labels from PR copy as if they meant something doesn't serve the reader. What is the point of a tech-news site if every other reference requires the reader to go to another site to look it up (especially when looking it up reveals that it's empty marketing drivel)? Kinda like the inexplicable continued use of early-'90s xxVGA nomenclature to describe screen resolution.
The phone was much better looking than the girl showing it. The only way my mouth would "fall agape", is if she told me she was under 47 years old.
That would be because in Sweden tech presenters are female because they're female and know about tech, not because it makes prepubescent geeks drool...
Both phone and girl are nice looking, your'r comment is unnessary and inappropriate.
Wow. Low ranked. You guys need to get out more, or read better.
"the type who falls deaf in the presence of the latest gadget? Add a girl and your mouth falls agape from..."
I was merely stating that the women in this video aren't really worthy of a jaw dropping response... Regardless of whatever gadget they are showing.
@ daki
Your " 'r " in your comment is unnecessary; and your spelling of unnecessary is inappropriate.
Looks good.
The sexiest things here are the resolution and the size of the device, not he UI and not...
Oh God I could go a few rounds with both of them in the time that phone takes to respond to commands!
I guess then, *ex* girlfriends are the ones who gave you that name.
Man, the case looks just like the Omnia's. So this is an iPhone AND Omnia ripoff.
This must be some kind of record.
Enough with the ripoff comments, it's getting old.
What do you guys expect, for every single phone company to reinvent the wheel every single time they release a new product.
Really, enough with the platitudes.
Oh, and for the record, this looks like LG's own Prada phone, which ummm you know, came out BEFORE the iPhone and BEFORE the Omnia.

So, you were saying...?
But it's not a Smart phone, aka, no software. So, who cares? Wake me when it can run my favorite WinMo programs.
As a Swedish speaking native, I can inform you all that she says nothing about the phone except it has a new interface, 3G and an MP3 player. She did however say that it did not have a music store like the iphone's Itunes store or Nokia's "Comes with Musik". So now you know what it doesn't have...
A quick translation:
The first device with this UI and there will be more devices like this one.
There are four sides to the cube and the idea is that it's supposed to be easy to use and easy to customize.
It's a multimedia device targeted at the average user.
Reguarding competition, it has a nice touch screen with zoom features like the iPhone. You can not write on it with a stylus.
It has a great camera with 5 MP. Fast internet speed 7.2 Mbit/s.
It has GPS and a MP3 player but no music services like Nokia or SE.
She think it suffers from not having a QWERT keyboard and that you can't use a stylus - 'only your finger counts'. :)
She said it has so many features and she didn't have the time to go though them all.
That's about it.
I don't like it... it looks like it's at least a year old.
Laggy, images LOAD on blank photos after u pull up the gallery. Slow. Not smooth at all.
Yet another pre-MWC disappointment. I'm starting to think phone companies are leaking their stuff because they know Tegra will steal the show.
Can anyone say compiz?
yeah, i thought of this, too! it's like the cube plugin... even this photo animation looks like it, when compiz is set up to show the desktop cubes from inside.
The phone looks fine.
All of the clatter about the slow interface, being too busy. is just nonsense.
For most people it's a perfectly good phone that does some pretty cool stuff with it's interface.
For people too high on their tech horse, they will always finds stuff wrong with EVERYTHING!
