While Microsoft's own post on this newfangled Zune initiative has absolutely nothing to do
directly with Windows Mobile 6.5, we wouldn't push that inkling of integration too far away. In fact, Redmond has just that on the brain, with "that" being "integration." Confirming an
earlier CNET report, Microsoft has decided to wed its Zune software team with the Connected TV organization (Windows Media Center, Mediaroom) in order to "create a single group focused on creating software and services that enable great entertainment experiences across the PC, TV, mobile phones and Zune devices." Additionally, the Zune device hardware team has joined the mobile communications business group to create a center of excellence in portable hardware, and the priority now is to deliver "new software, services and devices for Zune customers." We like the sound of
all this ambition, but please, don't make us wait too long for results -- cool?
They still fucking around with zune, they linked a CMYK picture that's why the colours are off, they should have use a RGB version ,I’m pretty sure if it was an iPod the colours would been perfect. At least this is better than using that zune30 pic. MS need to start policing their brands more.

Wait a second... did Engadget misplace their 1st. generation Zune photo?
Hehe... I'm as surprised as you are. There were a few "Wow, that looks beautiful" comments.
Some of us have been calling engadget out on this same issue, why would you use a picture that was over 3 years old when there are newer devices with better pictures all over the web.
I guess they could be considered the Fox News of the gadget realm. …Fair and Balanced
Even with this heavily photoshop enhanced image of the Zune, one can't help seeing how amateurish this product looks compared to the excellent iPod lines from Apple. The plastic looking, candy colored, crayon inspired fisher price designed units are simply reminiscent of fisher price school of design. Thank goodness that Miscreantsoft has their cash cow monopoly to continue and fund this pathetic product in order to rudely position itself in a market with the sole purpose of screwing their Played Fer Shure partners. With sales plummeting to 54 percent and revenues down to 100 million, MS presses on. Only a monopoly is stupid enough to waste more money for a ridiculous product. Waste money at the expense of employees recently laid off by Miscreantsoft. Pathetic.
Jubei, Zune still rocks. Get over it. Clean that sand. :)
welcome
to the
social
First off the only colors in that photo, that are actually on store shelves, is the black and blue Zunes. Secondly, do you really want to call Microsoft out for "candy colored, crayon inspired fisher price" units?

Excuse me... I must be coming down with something.
Of course only a Zune user would be unable to understand the difference in color application on a product. To Zune users, gray is one shade difference from black and white. As expected your response clearly confirms the fact.
fan·boy
Pronunciation: \ˈfan-ˌbȯi\
Function: noun
Date: 1919
An extreme fan or follower of a particular medium or concept, whether it be sports, television, film directors, video games (the most common usage), etc.
Known for a complete lack of objectivity in relation to their preferred focus. Usually argue with circular logic that they refuse to acknowledge. Arguments or debates with such are usually futile. Every flaw is spun into semi-virtues and everything else, blown to comedic, complimentary proportions.
Who cares.......ipods FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dare you to use a Zune 120 and an iPod Classic side-by-side for a day and then make that claim again.
What's the point? Zunes still suck PERIOD. I have the ipod touch and its the best PMP EVER!
My guess is the resulting product will be a 47-inch bigscreen TV with a heavy-duty handle on the top.
Batteries not included.
Good stuff.... merging the MediaCenter and Zune teams gives me hope for better Zune Pass and Media Center integration.. i hate that I cant easily access my Zune pass songs via media center.
i'm tempted to change my avatar into justin long and make a douchebag know-it-all comment right here.
Question on Zune: I'm currently a Rhapsody subscriber, been wondering if I should take the Zune plunge, but....I don't know if the Zune subscription is as or more extensive than Rhapsody's, and don't know any way to find out? Anyone out there moved from Rhapsody to Zune?
One of my friends had Rhapsody, then he bought a zune, and that's when he switched.
Zune pass(a month of unlimited music + 10 free downloads) = $15 USD/mo

I'd try the 14 day trial to see if they have what you want.
@Kris,
I was/am a Rhapsody, Napster & Zune subscriber. Napster by far has the most extensive collection. Rhapsody has a very good selection but the downloads are SOOO slow. They have Rhapsody optimized devices (i.e. iRiver, SanDisk) that are supposed to download faster but I still think it is much slower than Napster or Zune. I had lots of licensing issues with Napster to go. Songs were forever not playable even after I would sync repeatedly.
In the end, I think Zune has a great marketplace. I think there are 3-5 million songs. Most the songs that Napster & Rhapsody (iTunes too) are ones that I don't want to listen to. What good is 8 million songs if 7 million of them are crap?
that is so sad!
even without Paul here we still talk about him!
Where is Mark Anderson anyway?

This actually makes a lot of sense - if you've used Windows Media Center - you'll see that it and the Zune have very similar UI designs.
Still waiting for WMP support! I know the Zune software is nice, but it takes up a lot of CPU resources and lags if you have a large library. I have a Core 2 Duo E8400 with 4 GB of RAM, and my Zune software always sits at around 60% usage when running. WMP uses far less system resources and has a lot more functionality.
my take on this news:
we've laid off a lot of people from both teams, and the only way to keep them viable is to combine the workforce together.
ok...you arent even trying anymore...you guys gotta step it up. there is gonna be THREE friday the 13ths this year
