You can never go too far - Ferris Bueller's Day Off Blu-ray debuts May 5
Ready for some 80's nostalgia? Ferris Bueller's Day Off arrives on Blu-ray May 5, and sans any specs we can only hope it gets the attention it deserves. BD-Live is probably out of the question, but a proper transfer should bring a classic up to snuff and ensure yet another generation becomes aware you can't actually reverse an odometer by driving backwards.

Greatest movie ever made, I can't wait.
"you can't actually reverse an odometer by driving backwards."
Do you believe everything you see in the movies?

Third paragraph from the bottom.
I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Everything I've ever heard from mechanics is that if you tried to reverse an odometer, the gears have teeth that will break off and it won't work anymore. The primary way to trick the old mechanical ones was to hook them to a drill and run it until all the numbers turned over and keep running it till you got the mileage you wanted.
I know most people who would reverse a odometer wouldn't care, but it is a felony to do anything to a car which causes the odometer to count in the revers direction or to try to sell it as a lower mileage after it had flipped.
I probably shouldn't out myself like this, but I've rolled back the odometer on Honda's many times. You can tell it has been tampered with if you take it apart after the fact, but the odometer definitely continues to work. All you do is pull the pin off the end and line up the zeros again and then push them back on the pin. Its actually really easy.
But on a Honda at least, going in reverse does NOT roll back the odometer, but every manufacturer probably does it differently.
I'd like to say that I used to do this when I swapped the motor in the car and NEVER tried to pass off the new milage as the actual milage of the car. In fact when I sold the car, I was very care to make sure the title indicated that the actual milage was not the same as the odometer.
Ferris Beuller, you're my hero!
Hell yeah I haven't seen that movie since skipping High school just to watch it on TBS.
Somebody try and tell me that Matthew Broderick has aged one single day. You see him in 'The Producers?' Fuhgeddaboudit!
But these days he does have to 'foot' the bill for all those Manolo Blahnik's for his hot wife...
Great job using quotation marks on the 'foot' joke. As if we wouldn't get it?
Moron.
Really? That screen shot? You should have used one of everyone dancing to "Twist and Shout."
Best film ever .
No odometer can be "turned back" by going backwards. As mentioned you have to "crack open" the mechanical ones and do it via a drill or even by hand if you simply crack open the gauge covering. The new digital odometers are trickier but like with anything it is possible. BTW for anyone thinking about ever doing this, depending on what state u live in the DMV notates the mileage for each emission test. So if the title says miles less than the last emission test I hope u have a good lawyer.
Ferris Bueller comes to BLu Ray and this turns into an Odo-Anonymous meeting??
FERRIS... Bl U . E. L. L. E. Ray!
Not Oh, Doh! Meter?
yeah i know, only turbo geeks and nerds like this movie anyway so the whole odor expansion was expected ....
10 bucks says its going to be the fullscreen version cropped to widescreen
