I get this image in my mind that it would look like The Mask or Freakazoid dodging bullets.
Hopefully a fully automatic weapon wouldn't make the suit spasm and snap your back.
Why would you want a bullet proof vest that is scared of bullets??? The armor moves out of the way while you get shot?? Why didn't I think of an asinine idea like that? Oh yeah because it's stupid!

I perfer the nanosuit idea. Nanofibers designed to absorb the impact or deflect the impact of high speed full metal jacket rounds.

I didn't know IBM is now developing for the military.
Silly you, this is for personal recreation, not the military.
I think the intended users are the VISTA developers from Microsoft.
actually in the patent description it is said that "...the invention may be useful in battlefield scenarios where a single system may be configured to protect an entire group of soldiers. " so i guess that it very well may be just for the military. The military always gets stuff first anyways.
