Sony Ericsson's W995 Walkman slips out ahead of schedule

Update: As you may have caught in our liveblog, the W995 is now very much official, and just as described in its not-quite-official form. SE did have a few small surprises up its sleeve, however, in the form Sony's MediaGo software, which will let you share media with your PS3 over WiFi, and take advantage of Sony's PlayNow services, including downloaded movies purchased on your PC. Why oh why can't they just call it black, red, and silver? Sheesh.
Because that would be BORING, Sony at least has to show a bit of pizzaz when naming their phones. The phones do a pretty good job of it themselves.
No, because those names are mostly taken, black reminds you of a phone, SLVR is a motorola phone. Can't think of red, maybe a ferrari phone?
can't they ever change the walkman phones they almost all look the same and the only real changes are better cameras which aren't bad and the wifi is nice but i wonder if they might change it drastically next time

I really wonder how SE manage to stay aflot by selling this kind of antiquated B.S.
When they tried to sell a smartphone, the infamous X1, they had to ask HTC to make it (making its cost ballooning out of control) and when more than a year too late finally it made it to stores shelves it turned out to be a catastrophic failure, lacking all essential features to try to contain the uncontainable costs and full of design flaws that make it nearly unusable.
The scandinavian equivalents of craigslist are full of X1 at cut price finding no takers.
SE would have deserved to hit the dust long before Motorola who at least tries to do what it can (even though it turns out not to be nearly enough).
The trouble is that (understandably) if Sony has to invest some money in RD it prefers to invest it in sectors where it won't have to share returns with the swedes.
They STILL haven't added a 3.5mm jack. That dongle you MUST use to listen to music is the size of my thumb!!
