Nokia also joins Adobe initiative, Flash 10 for (almost) all
We're not quite sure if you're seeing what's happening here, but Apple and RIM are working themselves right into the time-out corner. We already heard earlier today that Palm would be joining Adobe's Open Screen Project -- which, by the way, guarantees Flash 10 support on the Pre -- and now we're told that Nokia is following suit. What it all boils down to is this: Google, Microsoft, Palm, and Nokia are all expected to release platforms or handsets in the coming year or two which will support Flash 10, all while Apple's iPhone attempts to limp by with... YouTube support. Granted, we have heard that the suits at Cupertino are in talks to make it happen, but we've yet to hear as much at MWC. Also of note, it seems that a similar deal including RIM is also pretty far off, so BlackBerry users should probably order their daily dose of patience as well.

I just want to know how flash 10 will affect battery life. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon just yet.
It will absolutely destroy any mobile phone batter. *opes up tailgate* We have beer. Hop on.
I have a funny feeling that come june, its everyone else that will be playing catch up all over again with Apple ;)
It's Apple that still has not catched up with the rest. I doubt they ever will. Don't think that's what they're even trying to do..
C'mon Google, get on the bandwagon before anyone knows it is one. C'MON!
Flash is known to bring desktop pc's to their knee's.
Can't wait to see what it does to a phone.
Works just fine on my HTC S730.
What kind of desktop do you have that flash brings it down? My old P3 2.4ghz with 256mb of RAM and an integrated GPU can run flash.
"Apple is not a supporter of open source and open standards for software on their device. They want complete control."
Apple supports a great deal of open source and open standard software on the iPhone. Apple developed Webkit and gave it to the open source community, which Nokia uses in S60, Google uses in Android and Palm is using in the Pre.
Flash is not open source its owned by Adobe. If software is owned by a company it is not open source.
Guaranteeing that the Pre will come with Flash? I'll believe it when I see it... Don't get me wrong, this is great, but buying a device based on promised features is a really bad move destined for dissappointment - have Adobe / Palm / Nokia given any time scales other than the vague 'in a year or two'? That could mean the Pre version 2, or some other device somewhere in the future...
I heard that Adobe and Apple are planning to work together?! See this link: http://www.pocketpicks.co.uk/latest/index.php/2009/02/03/adobe-working-on-iphone-flash-with-apple/
Random, unrelated question: Does anyone know what kind of notepad that is in the picture?
Here is one man's experience with flash and Window Mobile 6.5. Paragraph 10.
