As much as i love my iPhone, i hope apple realise they need to up their game, i think that following a product refresh every year like they do with their iPods wont cut it in the mobile phone industry.
Agreed.
Also, props for the first post about the iPhone not raving about it.
I had the original iPhone and now have the 3G but seriously find it lacking compared to newer phones. I plan to get a new phone in a few months, and unless the new iPhone makes significant advances in terms of computing power, camera, and a few other notes, I most certainly am NOT getting another iPhone. I'm currently eyeing the OmniaHD. To be honest, I was eyeing the Omnia until a few days ago, haha. But SE, Nokia, and some other Samsungs all look hella appealing to me as well. We shall see which catches my fancy the best...
The iPhone is doing very well right now. They've only put out 2 iphone models and already they've run to the top of the market - undoubtedbly the best all around PDA smartphone there is. Meanwhile G and Samsung are putting out iClone after iclone trying to catch up. None of them have the cultural capital - nor ever will.
YES apple needs to improve it. adboe Flash is coming but I'd be more interested in broadcast TV from channels like CNN, MSNBC, and HBO (if possible).
When iPhone gets some type of "apple tv" apple is gonna corner the market.
Nice multimedia phone, but definately not a smart phone imho.
It's as smart phone as it can get.
Eldar's phone definitely had some alpha software in it. Even the stand by screen didn't work correctly (mainly the text in phone book icons etc.)
What's your definition of a smartphone?
I wonder how big the actual screen is. From the picture it looks kinda small for 720p...
3.7
360x640 res, 3.8 inches diagonal
This is suppose to compete with the iPhone? It has more buttons, so it must be better!!!
And geez, do you seriously think the display is 720p?
Caaamannn!!!
It shoots video @ 720p/24, AMOLED @ 640*360.
:)
It is a gorgeous looking piece of tech!
And here I am, stuck (to paraphrase Homer Simpson) with my stuipid SD Omnia!
The archos is powerful enough to play HD video
I have to say that as an Archos fanboi I have been trying to keep an open-mind about which phone to buy in the next few months but the Archos seems to keep winning out.
I currently carry around a bulky PDA so size isn't an issue. If I could get an Archos 604-esque phone I think I'd be in heaven.
This Samsung has me intrigued, though.
Can I just say as a person who brought the Samsung Omnia a few months ago..
... I'M FUCKING PISSED OFF!
Why do companies always do this for? I mean Apple introduced the new black iMac like 2 weeks after I brought my iMac :-(
This doesn't replace the omnia. this will be launched along side it. That is why its called omnia hd.
So THAT'S WHY Steve was losing weight!!!!
I actually thought it took a full credit-card sized SIM in the side for a second. D'oh.
I for one welcome our bacardi loving phone reviewing overlords.
Anyone know what type of touch screen this is gonna have?
So, that button in the middle is supposed to take the place of a directional optical mouse? How are you going to move pointers/cursors to the left/right/up/down?
Why oh Why do you Always put links to google translate instead of English pages of the site?
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/samsung-i8910-omniahd-en.shtml
Its written in English, not translated by google, but written that way.
Thanks for fixing the read link.
After seeing this sexy beast Apple better really step it up. I would ditch my iPhone in a hurry get get one of these just from initial specs.
Here's for hoping they might release a Windows Mobile version of it.. :]
S60's not bad, but I've grown to like my WiMo phones..
I don't know what you are screaming about with the Omnia, I love mine.
Though the Omnia came to america as the T*Omnia was released in korea, bigger screen, better resolution, capable of picking up hd broadcast tv stations, three desktop screens to slide (ala andriod ripoff). I would much rather have had the T*Omnia but you know what, we will always see these things latter in the game.
As far as other phones on the market in america, be happy you have the omnia, it is IMHO the best american released WM6 phone ever released here. Beautiful screen plenty rom\ram space with 8 gb storage built in. Great battery life.
don't get me wrong though...
... I'M FUCKING PISSED OFF!
stupid, jackass proprietary port!!! And to top it Verizon locked GPS?
I paid for the phone didn't I?
Why the fuck are you going to lock my GPS.
OK OK, just take another pill....
Anyway, like I said great phone!
We'll have to confirm that the display and video recording are the real things as some phone brands advertise or "exaggerate" some of their phone's features and specs which results to people being ripped off. I'm not making a fight here but just talking about "security"
