Samsung OmniaHD hands-on
We're not sure if it's the 720p video or the simply breathtaking 3.5-inch display that does it for us, but one way or another, Samsung's ridiculously-spec'd OmniaHD is a sight to behold. The team at Engadget Spanish had a chance to swing by and check out the high-end handset's goodies today, and let's get right down to the point (and the main reason you'd buy this phone): the video that's getting shown off on the phone looks as good or better than anything we've ever seen before (it does have "HD" in its name, after all). Follow the break for the video!

I need this phone
Holy shit! screennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!
N.A.I.C @ (2 of 19) (not another iphone comparison) :(
but can it cut and paste ?
hot damnn! dats once hack oa display :o
one*
I don't thing the word 'one' was your biggest problem with that sentence.
That must've been typed on an iPhone! ;)
shame about the fingerprints...
imagine... 700mb avi movies will run directly, no conversion needed.. and on that screen too... omg............
who watches hd in avi?
Who watches "HD" on a 640x360 resolution screen.

The Samsung OmniaHD sure is a sight to behold, the only question is if Samsung can make the UI respond fast enough to user input. That way its features can be fully utilized. And then there's the problem of battery life - Eldar of Mobile Review I think said the battery only lasts about 30 minutes recording in 720p HD. We'll see, Samsung. We'll see.

this phone is amazing! there is an FM transmitter!
fm transmitter? as in iTrip style? that would be good, but as its not a music orientated phone it could be a mistranslation (if from that article) of fm receiver.
both would be immense
Good God that is fluid.
Only had my "old school" Omnia for close to 4 weeks. [now 4 sale ?]
Samsung makes a good a phone as i've ever touched.
Me want also..
so it can play videos, any other features?
Slashgear have the press release explains more details.
*sigh* Im pretty sure i can only afford the OmniaBlurryCam version
Actually, the Omnia has a suprisingly good camera, for a Winmo phone at any rate.
I must say, I'm liking the look of this HD, and I would've preferred S60 over my Winmo Omnia, but I bought my phone knowin full-well that in six month it will be all-but-obsolete, and I'm happy I did.
What do I do with the Omina I have right now. I want this I want this
It's running s60 5th edition with touch wiz on top?
Hey, mate. Don't worry about it. I just shot a load, too! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk! ;)
Just how many mistake can you make in 3 word sentence? Plenty apparently.
Not a Windows Mobile device?
It is Symbian S60 with touch wiz over the top.
So HD it made your camera lag!
Can I borrow you my face?
i thought it had a 3.7inch screen?
Yup, and capacative too!
Read that in this preview:

I love my Omnia i910 and I most probably will buy this new one too but I would like to know if this new incarnation will come with one of the feature I most like on my beloved "old" Omnia:
the genial mini mouse & mouse pad I have come to love and depend upon.
Thanks to this great addition I have seen only on the Omnia I never needed once to use the stylus supplied with phone.
In this new Omnia HD I don't see the familiar touch pad, and that kind of scares me.
Please Sammy, tell me it isn't so...
This is running S60, so it doesn't have cursor mouse support.
And given that 5th addition doesn't seem to require a D-pad (going by the devices that Nokia have released so far), the loss of the optical mouse isn't as big of a problem that you make it out to be.
But does it have a kickstand, so it can stand-up by itself? The HTC Whitestone in Europe does.
I'm not knocking the phone, the video does look great, and it's cool it can do real HD but my question is, why would you want to watch HD movie on a 3.5 screen? Seems to me like it kinda defeats the purpose.
Slightly off-topic, but does the video imply that Air Wolf is coming back again? I was mildly surprised to find that Knight Rider had been remade so this wouldn't shock me.
To be honest, as much as I find HD video exciting, I'd prefer to see more of the phone's features. Here's hoping that follow-up videos will be posted.
Did you notice the thicknesss of it? Also, it has a big extruding thing on the back. It would never fit comfortably in a pocket.
"big extruding thing on the back" ...??? It's a security device so you can't walk away with the phone unnoticed! Have you never seen one before? I'm sure that if I could stand to have something as big as an iPhone in my pocket, I probably wouldn't mind this one.
God i want this phone, BUT looking at the spec 3.7inch way to big for the hand & the killer deal is NO Xenon flash WHY. Why have a 8 mega pixel camera that cannot take good photos in the dark I have a Nokia N82 & friensa Nokia n85 The N82 is 5 times better, this was going to be my first touchscreen mobile but now i am crying because no one will release a 3.5 inch touchscreen with xenon flash & 3.5mm phone with os of either symbian, win 6.5 or android??
PLEASE release a phone with the above specs it isnt to much to ask for, is it???
Samsung makes a nice phone, but please won't they come out with an OS that is updated more regularly rather than just replaced with every new phone. I have the instinct and like it, but feel as though it was abandoned by samsung the day after I bought it. WTF? I don't follow alot of these mobile device news articles so maybe I'm out of line, but with all that these phones do, it seems like it would make sense. I might be wrong, but to my knowledge the only ones that have something like that now are apple, google, and WinMo. It seems to be working for them so why not Samsung?
That looks hot. What's the complete specs ?
Anyway, Can apply go HD with their iPhone ?
iPhone HD ?
Not bad at all.
I have to say I'm still loving my i910, but I'll definitely keep an eye on THIS bad boy in the future.
why no pics of the keyboard or web browser?
This phone be the JiZZ BiZoMB!
Looks like a great multimedia phone, but definately not a smart phone.
It's a great multimedia phone, rivals the iPhone. But is it smarter than the iPhone? Not really.
It's not as smart as the iPhone, but a great multimedia phone that rivals it.
