Sure, things
looked pretty legit yesterday, but we were awaiting official confirmation from Nokia. That's here, and now we can take a gander at the N86 purely on the up-and-up. The dual-slider (keypad on one end, camera and playback controls on the other) naturally centers on its 8 megapixel camera, which includes a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, AutoFocus, a mechanical shutter and a dual-LED flash, but there's plenty of other N-series goodies like 8GB of storage, a 2.6-inch OLED screen, TV-out and a microSD slot. Nokia Maps, Ovi integration and all those other goodies are onboard -- though the new email capabilities of its E-series brethren seem absent. The phone is due in Europe in Q2 2009 for around 375 Euro before taxes and subsidies.
Im sorry N86
I fell in love with the E55......... and dont know how to break the news to my E51
Nokia has made a larger sensor and a faster mechanical shutter compared to older models. Would love to try it out.
The design of the n85 was MUCH better imho. I dont like the rounded/colored keys
Wow wish the pre had a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens ;/.
Why no xenon flash? why???????????
So you can shoot video :)
I saw the N82 vs N85 samples and the difference is almost night and day. lol
To be honest it doesn't look that bad actually. Keys look like they are really easy to use and the price is incredible. It does have AMOLED screen which is great.
Is it just me or those nokia's are VERY similar to the LG's chocolate (2nd generation?) phones...
No, the chocolate is garbage in comparison.
Is it just me, or are you going to write this comment about the LG chocolate in every single posting on the N86?
8MP in such a small package will make you pretty prone to blurry images unless the auto-focus is very good.
for anything more than a 5mp i would prefer to carry a standalone camera for quality shots, dont want to carry these fancy phones just for the heck of it. the cost isnt justified...

The set is branded as an N86 8MP. Are there actually lower-megapixel models of the N86 in the pipeline?
They've done it with the higher storage versions against the standard ones earlier (N81/N95 8GB).
I call BS on that image coming from that device. Even on full-fledged pocket digital cameras, that sort of depth-of-field is pretty rare.
This phone should have had 2.8", 480x320 resolution and a Xenon flash.
