Samsung sure has made some high claims about its
OmniaHD supermegaphone, and now we've got some HD footage and stills to put those claims to the test. The camera does seem pretty stellar for a phone, and the video is undoubtedly HD, but we saw pretty sluggish performance in the HD recording mode, both in the on-screen preview and in the finished product. We'll chalk that up to the super-early build of the device software, but hopefully this will be resolved before the phone ships. The phone also does ultra-slowmotion video, which is awesome, but seems similarly inconsistent and stuttery in frame rate. We'll shut up and let you see it all for yourself, both in the gallery below and the videos after the break. Again, this is all from a pre-production phone, and we're really expecting (or at least hoping for) the frame rate to smooth out by launch. The video was shot in 720p, but it was downsampled for web playback -- it looks pretty sharp in native form, and the first image in the gallery is a screencap from the video in full resolution for your perusal.

The japanese phones have had these kind of picture quality for years.. My P906i from NTT docomo easily beats this in camera quality and its about a year old. Not mentioning some of the earlier softbank phones with optical as well as digital zoom.
The iphone camera is horrible, its an abomination, my nokia phones from 3 years ago take better pics than the iphone, i think almost every phone in the last 2 years takes better pics than the iphone
colors are kinda washed out
"Veri" nice
Yeah, like filming in HD with your cellphone is going to win the hearts and minds of potential buyers out there. One guy says his Nokia is better, another says his SE Cybershot is better. If there is that much of a difference in hardware and nobody can call a clear winner, then I think this feature is not going to be a major selling point. Is there really a need to shoot HD with a cellphone or will it be used once or twice and then go unused? Does shooting in HD use up a lot of memory or not? You're not going to shoot a wedding with it, are you? You'll probably just be shooting your dogs and cats or some squirrels. It might be useful for a few upskirt vids. I'm sure this will be the most overrated feature for cellphones. Calling it stellar for a phone is not exactly a standing ovation. That OmniaHD isn't going to sell in any large numbers, so I guess they might as well try something unusual to get some geeky buyers.
So what?? I do not personally own a digital camera or a video camera. I do not have much use for them, but the occasional once or twice (and then i borrow my sister's) . I was planning on buying a digital camera, but now, why would I if i can just use my cellphone? Think about it. Why have to carry 3 different devices when u can just carry one? Or what about the times when you wish you had brought your camera along but forgot it at home?
Nice and sharp.

Thats not bad at all.
