Just program this in. It worked most of the time in Asimov's future.
1.A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2.A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3.A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
I just can't believe no one else already referenced this.
I think you missed the line that said "a software malfunction just last year caused US. Army robots to aim at friendly targets." Asimov's rules don't really apply when programming tells the robot to shoot people from the word "go."
Those asmiov rules would waste army research a bit would it not? Not harm human beings. Besides since the whitehouse has in the past re-defined torture and human rights andsoforth they could also redefine 'human beings' And another thing, what's with having some respect for animals too? Robots can just do anything to your pets with those rules.
The Cobra Tag may help you win that losing battle, acting as a Bluetooth device that attaches to your key ring and connects to your phone, it gives you the opportunity to find the missing item if it's less than 30 feet away.
