Nintendo DSi to launch in North America on April 5th

According to the good chaps over at Joystiq (and, you know, Nintendo), you can get your grubby mitts all over the DSi in North America come April 5th. The system will launch for $169.99, will include all the goodies you've been reading about -- like those dual cameras and downloadable content called DSiWare (starting at the totally mysterious price point of 200 DSi Points). The handhelds will come in either blue or black, and while we can't quite explain why they've omitted white, we can be pretty sure we'll see some more colors join the fray before too long. Anyhow, this is Nintendo, so remember: it's never too early to get in line.

Yawn. Wake me when a hacking cart is released so something interesting can be done with it. Or they finally increase it's 3D power to something remotely acceptable, increase the screen size, and add an analog joystick. Oh wait, the PSP already does that.

Seriously, it's WAY past time for a more serious hardware increase then just a camera.

Yea but you'll only be able to have 2GB of stuff, IF someone cracks homebrew. The DSi will have firmware updates so each time a hack is done who knows what will happen after the next firmware. Im rocking Homebrew with my DSlite until the DS2 with a 4gig micro in it that has over 30 games on it, and my NES games, along with SNES, and genesis, with about 50 mp3's not counting my programs i have on it. so yea i dont need DSiware or some shitty camera to pull me into this one. You already know if the DSi sells well there probably most likely put the camera in the DS2, UNLESS for some chance we go back to traditional gaming where no touch screens are used and one hell of a graphics house but i dont see it happenin, sicne everything is going to touch, thanks to the DS, before 2004, we hardly saw touch screen in the consumer field

Alright Im a big Nintendo fan, but Im pretty sure Im not gonna buy one. One Im already running HomeBrew so theres no need for content for me or music or anything that my HomeBrew cant do. And Im sure in no time there will be DSiWare Roms to work with the current DS on HomeBrew. Second thats a terrible shade of blue Nintendo picked, maybe its me but I would feel gay if I pulled that out. And three, they need to bring out the DS2 already. You already know the DS2 will have a camera...MAYBE...I think there testing the waters with the camera so if it doesnt work out they can land back to just regular DS games, just liek they did wit hthe DS when it was release with the GBA still out, they said it wasnt to take over the GBA but to be another platform. Well I think if the DSi will do good, which you know it wil since everyone knows how well the DS sold, the likely thing would be for DS2 would be cameras, please a wider screen, that way you can create games using the new screen aspect, better graphics, and keep the clam shell design. I would love to see the shiny "finger print magnet" case come back but i think we saw its day in the sun. Now we go back to ugly matte finish, just IMO thou.

Hmm. I'm thinking this is a very programmable little device with cameras, 2 touch screens, wireless connectivity and a USB port on it.
The hacking potential is rather high.

News for gamers in the UK. The DSi arrives here on the 3rd April. According to http://www.nintendo-dsiconsole.co.uk it looks like we are getting it in black or white. The blue console the USA are getting at their launch seems a strange choice. Not so great news is the price of £149 which equates to about $215. Looks like us Brits will paying over the odds again.

I'm not sure if I'll upgrade, couple things I kinda hate: why it only play AAC format but not mp3 format? why does it accept only up to 2G max SD card because that is pathetic, 2G card is just like nothing! The way I look at it just like Wii or PSP: Nintendo will keep upgrading the firmware to prevent hacking or piracy but on the flip side, just like the ipod touch, I predict there will be tons of applications, games that take advantage of the touch, camera, microphone of the DSi...... the sky is the limit but too bad that the internal memory is only 256mb. Again, that is also pathetic! As for playing GBA games, I don't care that much, move on, life move forward, not backward, besides, there're already tons of good DS games out there. Just like the PS3, even though I have 60G version, I barely go back and play PS2. I predict that Nintendo will upgrade the firmware so that DSi can play mp4/ipod movies and who knows, it will take SDHC card because 2G is just like nothing!

Well, i have the DS Lite(however it getting old) and I think that i'd like the new features. The fact that Nintendo is slowly upgrading will allow them to react to what people are saying without having A LOT of changes to make at once to make people happy, however they should have, in my own proud opinion, kept the GBA slot. I mainly think that because I'm a Pokemon fan myself, but other people have their own reasons too...

The DSi has actually been priced a little higher than I assumed it would. In the UK it is priced at £149.99, and I assumed it was going to be around £120. However, price should come down.

if I were to upgrade to this i have some questions.
1. can i import(a white DSi) from japan and flash the firmware?
2.on a side note, does any one have a DS lite with Hinge problems? mine just started to crack.
