Samsung WMG100 brings OmniaHD video to the television, via WiFi
Just how the Samsung OmniaHD's video could reach directly from phone to TV screen was a bit of a mystery until the Engadget Spanish crew spotted the WMG100. Don't already own one of Samsung's high end sets with WiFi and DLNA built in? This dongle bridges the gap with all the necessary tech built in, pushing a max 480p (whether HD streaming to other devices from the OmniaHD will work is unknown) from its mini HDMI or component outputs for around €160 ($200), and is already available in Korea with a European debut planned for this spring. The idea that we'd ever get tired of watching that sweet AMOLED display is a bit of a reach, but just in case check out the gallery for some hands on pics.

Hey there, Engadget (Rich Lawler to be specific)
do boys have dongles?
que?
480p ew... I kid that is kind of neat though.
I'd like to see an iPhone with HDMI out but most likely, that would never happen. As it stands, the video out/USB connection works decently.
Great to see Samsung flexing its broad product portfolio muscle to make wireless TV a la phone a reality. The use case makes a lot of sense as network bandwidth picks up and people can easily download HD content onto phones. But when they get home, they don't want to watch it on the small screen anymore and they want it on their TVs.
The biggest problem is bootstrapping a large number of TVs/handsets that can work well together across the different manufacturers. Good to see Samsung spearheading this.

I went to your site, and I found pretty annoying that there were no information as to where you get your info from (from example in the "4G iphone" thing)
Regarding what you consider to be the bigger problem with this tech, I think a dongle of some sort should make that right.
"Just how the Samsung OmniaHD's video could reach directly from phone to TV screen was a bit of a mystery"
Huh? The OmniaHD has HDMI out via a cable, in the same way that the INNOV8 supports SD via a composite cable. It doesn't need a WMG100 to output HD video to a TV.
yeah, im confused... :(
Yeah, I'm confused, too! The OmniaHD already has a HDMI port. So, why the hell would it even need a dongle?
So it can be done wirelessly. The dongle is for you TV.
If this is going to use DLNA, you dont need this at all if you have a PS3 or something else like it.
wow, new technology
I'd rather stream my 720p videos via WiFi to a box that is connected to the TV.
That box is named 'PC'.
I'm Ron Burgundy?
Omnia HD HAS NOT a HDMI port !!! ONLY MICROUSB...so this dongle must be bought and for 160€ it costs a lot !!!
